Ephedrine-Like Herbs

So I see where Ripped Fuel has reformulated and no longer contains ephedrine.

My question is; aren't there natural herbs that basically have the same effect, ie green tea?

And if so, doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of reformulating the supplement(s) that contined ephedrine in the first place?

Ma Huang is natural ephedra.

I don't care if it's back on the market or not....stuff is dangerous.

So would Ma Huang be something to avoid? Green tea okay?

Yes, if you don't like ephedra then avoid Ma Huang. Grean tea has tons of antioxidant properties and if very good for overall health but will NOT give you the same results when it comes to fat loss as Ma Huang/Ephedra will.

Okay, thanks.

I guess I'm now wondering why Ripped Fuel would advertise Green Tea if it doesn't do the same thing as ephed/Ma Huang?

because green tea's ingredients can help other fat burning substances work better.

Ephedra is only 'dangerous' if you have existing heart problems, or you take a bunch, don't hydrate, and then go workout in heat until you stroke out. This is what those idiot football players who died did...they took extra ephedra, were overweight, and then practiced in full pads in 95 degree heat for 4 hours.

If you want somethign like ephedra but "safer" look for products that contain synephrine, or 'bitter orange' extract. its chemically similar to ephdra in how it increases metabolism, but it doesn't make you nearly as jittery as ephedra does.
it'll still keep you awake late in the night, so don't take it after about 1pm, assuming a 'traditional' sleep schedule.

Not many, because they don't know what the FDA might do again. But you can buy straight ephedra tablets to make your own stack.

Yup, Vasopro is pure ephedrine hcl 25mg. Combined with 200mg caffiene and optional 80mg aspirin, you have a good old home brewed fat butner.

Correct also they have lifted the Ban on ephedra and it has been back on the market for approx 4 months now.

OMG, so it is!! Damn, now I have a dilemma. I'm about to hit a creatine cycle but, I realise that to use thermogenics at the same time would be counter-productive. Not to mention my high blood pressure (although, I have used it before and have also indulged in the use of illicit stimulants far more damaging in the past and am still here to tell the tale). All things in moderation I guess - half doses all the way for me...

My dilemma is, how long to I hit the creatine for to make it worthwhile and how long before 2 months of ephedra should I come off creatine (ie. to get it out of my system)

Any advice welcome (apart from the ephedra is dangerous advice, I know it has a reputation, I don't consider it a risk)

Chris,

why are you cycling creatine? there's no need to cycle, or load on creatine. take 5g (heapin teaspoon) once a day, preferably following your workout.

Creatine does NOT make you huge. Pleaes read the supplement FAQ for the real deal on creatine (hint: it helps you generate and use explosive energy more effectively...that's it. some people retain more water in the muscles while on creatine, but that's water weight, not lean mass)

The reason for cycling is the use of thermogenics, not the creatine itself. I read somewhere here that the two would work against one another so, if I'm going to use thermogenics to cut, I will be coming off the creatine to do so.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, how long after I stop taking creatine should I begin with the thermogenics for maximum effect?

Once I'm done with the ephedrine version of hydroxycut (or whatever the new name is for it nowadays) I'll be back on the creatine permanently. I am aware it isn't directly a mass builder.

Apologies for my totally incorrect useage of the word 'cycling'. Hopefully its a bit clearer now, I just meant that I would stop for a bit, then start again.
