Hi everyone. I'm Dan from Vermont. I've been looking through the forum and it seems like you all are very supportive...and that's what I need! Thanks for being here for me!

welcome

Hi and Welcome Dan! Best wishes to you....I am new as well and hoping to use this forum as a tool of encouragement to keep pressing forward toward my weight loss goals! Hope this will help you too... :)

Exactly!

Support...that's what it's all about. I've been psyching up to get going for awhile, but have no support at home or groups in my community. I know that's what I need, then suddenly it hit me...what about the web?? There's gotta be others out there who need encouragement and help. Thank you!

Dan

Hi there Dan, glad to have you with us. We are a big happy family here and I'm certain you'll find the support you need to keep you going. So tell us more about yourself....How much weight are you looking to loose? What type of diet plan are you thinking about. Any kind of weights or excersize?

A bit about Dan

Well...I'm a big guy anyway, 6'2". My "happy" weight is about 210 and I've managed to balloon up to 283. I haven't been at 210 for about 6-7 years, just gradually got bigger and bigger! I'm sure my metabolism has slowed abit since my 30's (I'm 45 now), so I don't want to be unrealistic and fight to get to 210, I'd be happy with 215. I used to lift weights and am happiest with my shape when I am limber and toned. My job requires alot of lifting and crouching etc., so I really need to get back in shape for that.

My plan is to eat sensibly...real portions, not plate-fulls, walk alot, and work the weights 3-4 times a week. My biggest temptation is snacking (OK, I'll admit, it's more like bingeing), so I need to modify some behaviors for sure.

I hope to return to school to get my degree in nursing and go on to be a flight-medic with a local helicopter rescue unit. The weight limit for flight crew members is 220lbs., so there's a good goal to shoot for.

Once again, thanks for your support!

Dan

I'm new here

Hi Everyone
I just found this site and am hoping it helps me to stay on track and lose weight. I've tried numerous programs and failed at each one. The latest being LA wt loss.
I joined a gym and I'm hoping that with exercise and proper eating, i can become a health person.
looking forward to meeting everyone
Jean

Hey Dan! I just joined today and I am a fellow VTer. I too have been thinking about losing weight for awhile and I finally made the jump and I am ready to make this work. I am doing the Herbalife program. On it one week today and down 8 pounds. I will be introducing exercise soon too. I tried the gym thing before, but had to have surgery and that made it so I couldn't exercise for awhile and then I couldn't find the oooomph to get back in the gym. I have done yoga recently though. Feel free to IM me or email me anytime. I am in central VT.
