Sport Energy boosting foods?

Sport Fitness
Are there any foods that give you instant high energy?Or at least a good boost pretty quikly? If so what are they?

Instant High energy.....sugar comes to mind.

Won't last long though, you're better off being full of complex carbs.

Why do you ask this question? Are you having a problem with energy? If so, what is the diet and exercise routine like? There can be many reasons for low energy, but I would look at diet and the self first.

Just some thoughts. You could start a diary or journal in the correct thread, and we could possibly assist you more.

Rock on

Sugar won't "give" someone energy. In the sense that it wont make someone go from sluggish and dragging to up and hyper.

It goes right along with the myth that kids get hyper over sugar consumption... The truth behind the matter lays in the "mental" aspect of consuming sugar.

I agree with Trevors point.

Im just more akin to the diet (as a whole) and exercise side of the equation for a solution, rather than a specific food item. But more input from the OP is needed.

Ginseng is interesting, in that I know of many people who's highly believe in the use of the product. But, being a man of "science". I tend to follow the studies and the "science" behind things such as these. I don't believe there to be any real evidence - other then anecdotal reports - that ginseng does in fact help ones energy levels, health, exercise capacity or anything else for that matter. HOWEVER, much like my comment about sugar above. The mental aspect is very strong. If you believe it to work. Then it likely will.

Agreed, I would look into your diet and exercise program. Before, submiting yourself to buying stuff that will likely not work or simply cover up a possible problem.

The three main sources of energy in our bodies are carbohydrates, protein, and fat. With that said, a diet that consist of these three things will give you the necessary energy throughout the day.

If you want energy for something like an athletic event, then you want to eat things like bananas, and on top of that drink stuff like Gatorade during the event. Complex carbs are a great source of energy too.

However, if in general, you want a quick boost, like let's say you wake up feeling tired or in the middle of the day you feel tired, then it is in fact your diet, like chillen and them said. You lack something, and you should start writing down what you're eating, and whether or not it fits into the daily requirements of the three sources of energy. Or it could be that you are not getting the proper amount of rest. Do you sleep 8 hours per night?

Good post Dallen.

My diet and workout are good, I'm following a plan by Adler that is helping me prepare for Marine bootcamp, in two days is my IST(initial strength test) which is as many pull ups you can do with no time limit, a mile and a half run and as many crunches you can do in 2 minutes.Plus were playing kickball, I just wanted to know what I could eat for breakfast before I go to keep me as energized as I could be.I don't feel sluggish during the day ever, I was just curious is all.

I saw this in a store once, maybe it will do the trick
