i use an elliptical almost everyday, how much does it build my legs up, i.e. gluts and quads? are my legs going to get significantly bigger using an elliptical versus straight up running?
No, your legs will build little to no muscle performing cardio on the elliptical (all depending on your diet). There is not enough damage done to your muscles to encourage the repair/rebuild process of new muscle tissue.
