hmmm, listen i know this has been done to death, but i thought i would ask the obvious question - i exercise 4 hours a week on the treadmill, and find it works perfectly for me to have 3 scrambled eggs with a tomato chopped up for breakfast, nothing added, except tomato sauce.

does this sound silly? (this is 4 days a week - tuesday to friday).

sound like too many if i'm wanting to achieve weight loss??

i just can't think of an alternative that i would love as much, i honestly look forward to my scrambled eggs all the time!!

I don't see any problem with scrambled eggs. 3 eggs = about 210 calories which isn't a bad breakfast at all. Add some oil for the scrambling and some calories for the tomatoes and maybe around 340 altogether?

Now obviously you have to consider that within the greater scope of your entire daily menu, but as a standalone breakfast, I think it sounds pretty darned good. :)

Seriously, I love eggs. I don't think you can go wrong with eggs, specially 3 scrambled in the morning! YUM. Personally, I'd throw in a bit of toast or something with them, just so I'd have the carbs for the energy to run/walk on that treadmill. Otherwise, I think you're good :)

OHHHHHHHHH i know. just thinking about my breakfast as i'm going to bed makes my mouth water!!! but i was reading somewhere about someone upping their egg intake to put on weight (they were rather severely underweight) so i hope i'm not sabotaging myself!!!
definitely my guilty treat, i eat til i'm very full, whereas i exercise portion control strictly for the rest of my day...

The thing is .. you cannot take one single food item and use it to define your entire diet as far as loss or gain.

A single egg is 70 calories (give or take a few). "Upping your egg intake" is not going to cause you to gain weight alone. You have to look at an egg (or 2 eggs or 3 eggs or a dozen eggs) IN CONTEXT. Eggs in and of themselves are not going to "sabotage" you or cause you to gain weight.

Stop thinking about food (eggs, or anything) as individual discreet items. Each thing that you eat is part of the whole. And the WHOLE is the only thing that counts.

@quality_coffee, they're probably just upping the egg intake for the protein to gain muscle. Eggs won't hurt your diet or weight EVER if you eat in them moderation (just like everything else, of course). They're a great source of protein which aids in weight loss so that you're not losing muscle mass but fat! Plus they really keep you full for a long time, I had them for my super early breakfast this morning lol. You'll be fine :)
