Sport Eggs

I would loke to answer your question simply, However It al depends on how much exercise you do and what else you eat in your day and what you want out of it i.e. weight loss, muscle gain.

in any case egg whites are fine, eat as many as you like
dont have more than 2 egg yolks in a day, they have tonnes of cholesterol, but then if your a veggy and you dont eat red meat then your cholesterol is prob quite low anyway.

As a Veggy, do you take fish oil supplements, iron pills and a multi vitamin. If your trying to gain muscle you should look it to taking body building blocks, protien powder and eating lots of grainy breads and oatmeal.

family history and lifestyle play an important part but really there's nothing to worry about

For much of the past 40 years, the public has been warned away from eggs because of a concern over coronary heart disease risk. This concern is based on three observations: 1. eggs are a rich source of dietary cholesterol; 2. when fed experimentally, dietary cholesterol increases serum cholesterol and; 3. high serum cholesterol predicts the onset of coronary heart disease. However, data from free-living populations show that egg consumption is not associated with higher cholesterol levels. Furthermore, as a whole, the epidemiologic literature does not support the idea that egg consumption is a risk factor for coronary disease. Within the nutritional community there is a growing appreciation that health derives from an overall pattern of diet rather than from the avoidance of particular foods, and there has been a shift in the tone in recent dietary recommendations away from "avoidance" messages to ones that promote healthy eating patterns. The most recent American Heart Association guidelines no longer include a recommendation to limit egg consumption, but recommend the adoption of eating practices associated with good health. Based on the epidemiologic evidence, there is no reason to think that such a healthy eating pattern could not include eggs.

Im also a vegetarian and I eat eggs every day. However, I also have other sources of protein. Soy, tofu, tempeh, beans, greens, tuna, cheese, hummus, milk, etc.

Just remember that each egg has 7 grams of fat. 3.5 grams in the yolk and 3.5 grams in the whites. So while eggs are good for you... they can add up in total fat.

Abear thats a wkd site. Thanks for the info.

I do eat a lot of eggs but I still cringe when I see Rocky2, when he downs 5 raw eggs!!!

May I ask why your a veggy but you still eat tuna?

I have nothing against it and im not trying to start an argument I just dont understand why some ppl dont count fish as meat.

say it again (great point)

I've seen a few people eat fish who were veggies, then there's the other side of the spectrum who won't even eat cheese! I couldn't do it. MOK, just try it, drinking egg whites isn't bad at all, and it saves time. Tastes like, salty water.

EDIT** Congrats on makin 1000 posts MOK! +3

Are you talking to me about being a vegetarian and eating tuna? Im confused on who you are speaking to :) If it is me...

Many people are vegetarians for their own reasons. Personally I believe we are supposed to eat meat as part of our make-up and genetics. However I choose to not eat meat because of the way it is processed and farmed in America.

It's my activism for my life. When American farms start treating their animals humanely and they stop pumping in hormones and restricting movement... then I may reconsider my position.

I still eat tuna because I want to. I have not gone that far with my activism. I eat eggs and I drink milk. I am not a vegan. Although I respect them and their life. However I do eat eggs that are organic and from free range chickens and I only drink milk that is organic and from grass fed, non-hormone-shot-up cows.

1000 posts.. Wooohooo!!!! Thanks guys - feels like my birthday or something.

Raw eggs. No way man. In england we have salmonella and its unsafe to eat raw eggs.

I can understand how you dont like the way meat is farmed, but if you did some reserch you'd find plenty of places to buy farmed meats.
I just googled free range meat and this was the 1st thing I got.

Eggs are a great source of protien, but everything in moderation I say. Most Americans get plenty of protien as it is, but as a vegetarian, eggs are a great source. I try to eat them every other day.
Not all meat is raised inhumanely. I grew up on a ranch. The cattle are our livelyhood so it makes no sense to treat them terribly, but I understand where your point of view.

I live in Amish country and my grandparents own a farm. So we have lots of humanley raised animals near by. It's just one thing I believe in personally. :)
