plus, out of those 5 grams only 2 are saturated. plus as someone mentioned, the nutrition (vitamins, minerals) are in the yolk
researchers are now going back and analyzing all the egg data and finding out the real truth. one study ended on this note
These findings do not suggest that one should go back to the traditional high cholesterol Western diet. Instead, they suggest that among healthy men and women, moderate egg consumption can be part of a nutritious and balanced diet. Because eggs are excellent and relatively inexpensive sources of essential amino acids and certain vitamins, they can substitute for other animal products such as red meat. These results also illustrate the danger of judging health effects of a food by single nutrients or components contained in the food.
so if someone increases their whole egg consumption, BE RESPONSIBLE ABOUT IT! personally i talked it over with my doctor, who has some expertise in sports nutrition. my blood work was good, i have no family history of concern and with my diet and lifestyle i got the ok to make an increase.
The entire egg is healthy. My question would be - Why are you asking, are you looking for protein source? Are you concerned about cholesterol? I personally egg plain egg white from a carton i buy at the local grocer. For me, I just like to eat eggs for breakfast, but can afford the cholesterol. I get my protein from whey shakes and meat.
