I've been toying with the idea of egg substitues, but to be honest I don't know much about them. All I really know is what the grape vine seems to say and that's them being healthier...

Does anyone have any knowledge on the subject? What do they taste like? Is the nutritional value that much greater than an actual egg?

We dont have em around here that i know of. What do they make them with? egg? :D

I remember them, the ones I had were called egg beaters. They came in a little pint. They tasted fine to me. Don't know if they were that much healthier though

I buy the egg whites that come in a little carton. It doesn't seem to cost much more than buying regular eggs, on a per egg basis. And it takes fine too me...they're simply egg whites.

I have also tried the Egg Beaters, they're decent too.

I eat egg beaters or just the straight up egg whites. I use them for my tuna or when I cook 'em up in the skillet. Good stuff and will save you some calories.

i eat the all white's. Only 1.50 for a 16 oz carton at super target! I love them...usually put some mushrooms in the middle :)mmmmmmmm! My bf used to make fun of me for buying them all the time. THen he tried them last weekend...he loves them too!

the egg substitues are also really good in the omelettes that are made in the bag -- the recipe is posted in the recipes forum -- or just google it -the recipe is all over the internet.

The only thing I don't like about the egg substitutes, is when you cook them in a pan, the pan tends to develop a film on it from the egg- cooking it in the bag, eliminates this..

Load it up with some tomatoes or salsa and it's delicious...

Egg beaters are fantastic, one friend couldn't even tell the difference. and there is a huge difference. Your avg. Egg has about 70 calories and a high amount of cholesterol (albeit, good cholesterol) the egg beater equivilant has 25 calories, 0 fat, and 0 cholesterol.

The whole carton is only 250 calories. I find if i'm hungry I'll poor the whole carton in the pan with some pam for lubrication and mix in some onion and scramble the eggs. Serve with two dry slices of Weight Watchers toast and you have a nice BIG 360 calorie breakfast.
