Sport Egg McMuffin vs. Home made egg sandwich

I’m heading out on vacation Saturday and was going to do my normal (morning of vacation)treat of picking up an Egg McMuffin, but decided I could make my own egg sandwich that would be tasty.

Problem:
Egg McMuffin: 300 calories and 18gs of protein

My egg sandwich: 295 cals and 16gs of protein and I haven't slapped on any meat. (was going to go with Tuna)
(Wheat bagel 220 cals 10gs protein/egg 75 cals 6gs protein )

Maybe I should just do the egg McMuffin? I’ll have to look into wheat English muffins to get my cals down from 220

Thoughts?
 
just make sure you pick the lil people parts out of the sauce.

Well you can cut the calories out of your own egg mcMuffin by using:

sourdough english muffin: 130 cal (5 fat)
one egg white: 47 cal
and i slice veggie cheese: 35 cal

total: 212 cals

Plus whatever meat you decide to eat....


I think it is always better to make your own cause you know what goes into it. and it can be just as tasty!!! :)

You're concerned with calories and protein...

What about fat, sodium, and other things? I'm willing to bet that the Egg McMuffin is higher in fat and sodium. Probably a lot of sodium.
 
the occasional cheat mcmuffin is no big deal.

but they are definitely using some of the cheapest/lowest grade sausage available, and those english muffins are like hockey pucks :)

Evan- Yup, eatting clean by staying low cal and high protein. Just a novice here....but I will start watching other things too once I'm in the grove with what I'm watching now. Not to worry I trim the fat off my meat. Low cal and high protein is working for now.

Egg McCrap

I used to have one in the AM before work because it was the only open place at 6AM. Probably 1 per day 5 days for close to a year. I started getting weird pains and symptoms that made me feel like something serious was wrong. One time I even felt like puking and almost passed out. Then I read an article about the worst thing you can eat for breakfast and guess what was number one. Egg McMuffin along with the potato thing they serve with it almost killed me. I stopped that day and have never felt any of those symptoms again. I have never been back to that dump.
