Effective walking

I looked it up, I burn as many calories running for 30 mins as I do walking for 100 mins. So, technically if I walk in place of my daily run it should make no difference, correct? Seems to good to be true, walking for 100 mins is easy. I just have to now because my legs are way to sore to run.

Higher intensity workouts burn more fat after you're done exercising though (more active metabolism). Muscle also burns fat. So the more muscle you create through higher intensity training (running) will also give you a more... not sure how to word it... a more self-sufficient effect? Muscle burns constantly.

So although walking is the next best thing and if you're sore or can't run then its the best available option... I wouldnt say there's "no difference" between running and walking.

But if you can't intensively train aerobically consider combining a little bit of strength training in your work out. Unfortunately if you're going to walk an hour a day its going to soak up even more time... but building muscle means (eventually) less fat you have to actively burn.
