Eating to little?

Hey yall..I am concerned with eating to little. Currently or well 2 weeks ago I was 375 lbs with a BMR of 3200 give or take 200 probably. I exercise nightly with 30 mins of very intense boxing on a heavy bag and am doing light weight lifting.

I am currently eating 1800-2200 calories I day. I am not 100% sure actually but most days I beleieve it is 2000 below. I have been eating well and right for almost 2 weeks and see a small difference but with my size I should be seeing a bigger difference. It does not concern me greatly as I am wanting to take this slow and steady but I want to make sure I am not crippling myself. For someone my size is 2000 cal. a day to low? The food I am getting in is lean meats, whole grains, fruits etc. the usual good stuff. So far I am impressed with how I am doing I just want yall opinion on wether or not I need more cal. intake.

Thanks yall :)

I don't think it'd hurt to add a couple hundred extra calories. But do I think you're hurting yourself by eating 2000? I don't know.

Here's the thing, you can always try something out to see if it works, and go back if it doesn't. So if you're still seeing results at a higher caloric intake, then there you go. If it's not what you wanted, then go back?

While 2000 cals might seem like a lot, a man of your weigh probably should have at least 2,500 to avoid starvation. (see below)
However, more information would be good, specifically your height.
You can google "daily caloric intake" for calorie calculators
If you're 30 years old, 5'10" and do daily exercise, a person of your weight:
(I used an online calculatore)
Maintenance:
4373 Calories/day
Fat Loss:
3499 Calories/day
Extreme Fat Loss:
3000 Calories/day

I want to address this as well.
Don't expect overnight results... I'm sure it took you a while to gain your weight, it will take you a while to burn it off.
Healthy weight loss for your size, I think is generally considered to be 4 lbs/week max.

Oh I told myself when I started that I was going to take this slow and steady. I know I have lost, I guess my concern is getting to that goal...making it. But as long as I cont. to eat well and workout I will get their eventually.

Oh the other note lol. I am 375 lbs, 26 years of age and 6 foot 3 inches( God blessed me tall). I would be SOOOO excited with 4 a week but to be honest any loss will make me happy. Thanks so much for the words guys. I will do my best to up my intake and see where that takes me. The fact i work out so hard probably means I need to anyways.

2000 Calories is probably a little low for a person of your size at this point. 2500 or even 3000 would be good in my opinion.

Also to reach your long term goals you should concentrate on developing some habits now and stick to them. These are just some of the changes I made when I decided to get back into shape.

*Spread your meals out to 5-7 small meals a day vs 3 large meals. Try to keep them consistent, this will keep your metabolism actively engaged. Try not to eat later at night (like after 8-9pm) I know this might be tough since you said you were a gamer in one of your previous posts. I've had my COD and WoW binges years ago, I know all about the Energy Drink and Junk Foods that go along with it.

*Drink plenty of water, you've gotta stay hydrated.

*If you're going to snack, hit up the fruits and vegetables.

*Milk..... Try switching to Almond Milk.

You might want to try spreading out your workout too. Boxing is great, however if you're going intense for 30 minutes, you're going to be building more cardiovascular strength rather than burning fat. Especially at the beginning, you might want to try walking on a treadmill at a fast walking pace with an incline, for longer periods of time ie 45min-1hour. Most treadmills have Heart Rate Monitors built into them and have guides to what heart rate zone you should be in to attain your goal.

I'm just brain dumping here. I dropped 33lbs in two months just by diet and exercise. Gym workout, with cardio like what I mentioned above. The more muscle you develop the faster you'll burn fat.

I do most of the stuff your talking about now. Minus the milk....I can
t give up my 2%....I love it to much lol. I am mainly focusing on the diet right now...once I get used to that I will start going pretty heavily into the work outs, I have done strength training in the past so it should come easy. As far as treadmill vs. boxing. I think they both burn a high amount of calories and with boxing...at least I am constantly moving and weaving and dipping. I figure the more I move my whole body the better. I have nothing aganist the treadmill I just LOVE to box. And since I think I can still burn fat while do it...I will stick with it.

Thanks for the words sir, I love hearing what everyone has to say.

I totally agree that Boxing is a great workout, I just think you should shift gears, extend the length of your workout, and take the intensity to a level you can sustain for 45minutes to an hour.

Oh ya, after 2 months. I will start a new routine, I know you can't keep doing the same thing over and over or your body will get to used to it. I plan on changing routines every month to 2 months.

I wouldn't worry about the actual number of calories, my advice would be to eat when you are hungry and eat until you are no longer hungry. You're body is pretty good at telling you what it needs, if it's hungry all the time you're probably not consuming enough calories. Don't confuse hunger with cravings though :p. If you are eating 2000 calories comfortably and hunger is not burning up inside if you, I'd say that you'd be okay with sticking with that amount of calories.

i would suggest that you have to eat properly in order for your body to function well.
