Sport eating natural peanut butter at night

Sport Fitness
i just had some vegetables with 2 tbsp of natural peanut butter. it has 16 g of fat in it, which is about 30% of my daily fat intake. i am on a cutting diet and i know the importance of not eating carbs past 6 pm (peanut butter is low on carbs- only 6 g) but is it bad to have that much fat at night or is that not really an issue?

Carbs after 6 is a myth. It is the whole day that matters, not any one time specifically. PB at bedtime is fine if it fits your daily plan. I eat PB most nights before bed with celery or a banana. Tonight I had a cup of CC.

oh ok. i heard that when you're trying to cut its important to get the majority of your carbs in during the morning and early afternoon and then after 6 pm it gets stored as fat. so thats not true?

The answer is the big picture. Tomorrow look at what you ate today. Not when you ate it. If you store ANY thing as fat it is due to an excess in calories. If you are at a deficit as in a cut you can't store carbs as fat as you have no excess calories to store as anything.

My plan - I just eat. When I feel like I am adding fat I up my activity level to counter.

ok cool. also i'm kind of confused as to how many calories i should be eating during a cut. i calculated my BMR and it was about 3000 calories, so should i subtract about 750 from that and eat about 2250 calories a day to lose about 1.5 lbs a week? i've heard ppl who eat like 3000 calories a day on a cut but other ppl only eating like 1700 and both had very similar physical activites to me. so i'm not sure if 2250 is too much or too little or just right

All depends on activity. Like I said.I don't track and have dropped a couple % in the past few months. I am a big fan of eating, eating well, and being active. I lift 3 days a week. Do Tabata or ride 3 days a week. I also ave kids so even off days like today include a walk or playing some how.

whoa! You're eating less than 50g of fat a day?

can you give me your daily calorie intake, along with protein, carbs and fat intake in grams?

if you know your percentages, that'd be great too.

dipping too low in fat is not healthy, and if you're a man, it'll dip your testosterone too.

And you know what naturally occuring hormone is a fat burning beast?

....

Times up... TESTOSTERONE!

If you're cutting, cut carbs, not fat.

my BMR is 3000 calories but i cut 750 to lose 1.5 lbs per week, so i'm eating 2250 a day.

i've also been carb cycling, so on high carb days i do a 40/40/20 split (40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat), so its about 230 g protein, 230 g of carbs and 50 g of fat. when i have a low carb day i do a 55/20/25 split (55% protein, 20% carbs and 25% fat), which is about 300 g protein, 115 g carbs and 60 g fat.

what carb cycling plan is this? Your low carb days look like my high carb days.

if its working...well, ok, but don't dip below 25% daily intake of calories coming from fat.

I pretty much keep the fat constant when bouncing carbs, and let my protein make up for it. 4cals per gram of protein or carbs, makes it easy to do the math.

i bounce the carbs and protein, not really the fat. for example on a high carb day, i'll eat about 215 g of protein and carbs and 50 g of fat. so for breakfast, i'll include things like whole grain bread and oatmeal. or for lunch i'll include a cup of whole grain rice and for dinner include like a baked potato.

but on low carb days, its more like 300 g of protein, 115 g of carbs and 60 g of fat. so for example today, i have not eaten any starches whatsoever, the carbs i've been eating are not too complex. for example, for breakfast i had 7 egg whites, then later had a protein shake with milk and strawberries, after my workout had a protein shake with milk and peanut butter. and right now i just came back from dinner where i was a steakhouse and had a porterhouse steak.

i eat about 2250 calories a day, so do you think 115 g of carbs on my low carb day is too high?
