Hey everyone. I've noticed that I've been able to get my portion size down, but I noticed last night, that I can still scarf that food down in under 15 minutes. what are some tricks you all have developed to help you eat more slowly?

If i eat with someone i try to put my fork down and have more conversations with those people.

If I'm alone i try to read a paper, book or magazine.

i don't eat slowly...never have, probably never will. i've tried numerous times to eat slowly and put down my fork and have a conversation with people, but that leads to my food becoming cold, and that makes me angry. i can't win, i either talk too much or eat too fast...if only i could find a happy medium. so i just eat whatever i put on my small plate to begin with and that's it, no seconds. if i feel like i need something else to eat because everyone else is eating, i either leave the kitchen or have some more salad cause i figure that cannot cause too much damage.

I love you! You are just like me.

Life is too short to spend your time eating slowly. When I eat, I just get it over with lol. I can't justify spending a lot of time at the table eating slowly. I already measure my portions to the correct size so I'm not over-eating, so why waste 30 minutes eating a small meal?

Maybe it's just me, but I have more imporant things to get done lol...

agreed w/ the whole more important things to get done. if i eat too many times a day eating feels like a chore and it makes me not wanna eat at all. i just do it cause i have to and move on with my life.

although i do try to eat more slowly if it's something not so healthy for me. i gotta savor every little single bit of that piece of pizza.

i swear i can run to the fridge, get a yogurt, open it, throw the wrapper away, and eat them entire thing before someone else could even make it to the fridge. then i'm like thank god that's over with. lol

- put your fork down in between bites
- eat with chopsticks lol
- chew everything at least 20 times, helps with digestion too
- prepare meals that take time to eat like raw veges, salads

lol at eating with chopsticks...i'd starve!!

drink water with the meal. you can still eat fast but it washes it down and helps that 'full' feeling much faster

well, i love water, honestly, can't get enough of the stuff...except for when I'm eating. I have to have some other kind of flavor when I'm eating, so I'll have splenda sweetened tea when I'm out or a Pepsi one when I'm at home. When I'm not eating, I'm a water fiend. I like what you guys are saying though, it's nice to know that I'm not alone in having a black hole for food instead of a mouth.
