Eating Lettuce or Bread in the morning?

I have a funny question.
In the morning I've been eating tuna and lettuce or tuna and some salad to get me started in the day. I get enough energy from it but all that lettuce, no matter how much I eat, doesn't fill me up. It's very strange.

But... if I have tuna and bread and am full until two oclock in the afternoon? I would have thought bread would just raise insulin levels and make me gain weight but in this case it seems to keep my blood sugar nice and even. I can't eat near as much tuna if I have had bread with it.

Any clues as to why this is? I would have though all the fibre in lettuce would fill me up faster and last longer.
Could it be that I am meant to eat a higher GI meal in the morning? I've heard that before. OR, could it be that I just need allot more carbohydrate in the morning, something lettuce is just not giving me?

Any definitive answers on this?

Thanks so much.

You may want to read this book:
The Bread for Life Diet: The High-on-Carbs Weight-Loss Plan Hardcover by Olga Raz (Author) , Amir Kessner (Author)

The lettuce doesn't have much fiber. The book says carbs raise your serotonin levels and make you feel happier and more satisfied. Don't know if you had white or whole grain bread - whole grain would have more fiber and keep your blood sugar level more even. But whatever you had worked for you so I say keep it up!

If you think lack of carbs is causing hunger pains, try having a banana every morning as well.

Total Carbohydrate 27 g 9%
Dietary fiber 3.1 g 12%
Sugar 14 g
(1 medium sized banana)

Get your carbs without the the other things found in bread that may contribute to weight gain.
