Hello

Currently I am trying to change my eating habits and just seeing where I can improve. I am open to any suggestion you can give and I thank you in advance. I drink tons of water and I try to eat 4-6 little meals a day, so it would look like something like this

1. Breakfast/Cereal
2.Snack/Fruit (Apple, Banana, Grapes … etc)
3.Pita/Other small lunch
4.Snack/Fruit
5.Pita/small super
6.Maybe an Apple to tie me down

Proteins:
SUSHI, Salmon, Fish (in general), Whey and cooked Grounded Beef (drained of grease)
Grains:
Oatmeal, Bran Flakes, Pitas, Whole Wheat Bread and Spaghetti
Vegetables:
Pretty Much Anything
Fruits:
(Once Again) Pretty Much Anything
Dairy
Some Milk and maybe Yogurt

My diet has evolved at lot over the years, I eat a whole lot less meat and more fruits and vegetables. So in a sense I am doing better, but I believe that maybe I am not eating as much Grains as I should. Normally I consume about 1600 calories a day and the Whey is after a workout. And if you really must know my Stats, Male/23 years/160lb.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, FOR ANY ASSITANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE, THANKS

By no means am I a professional or anything, but your diet sounds pretty good, dude. *shrug* Grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy, lean proteins...you got it covered!

there's a few threads around that discuss it -but there's no real benefit to eating 5 meals a day vs 3 meals a day - it's total calories consumed during the day that matter - so do what makes your body feel good...

I would use an online food diary like or one of the 100s of other free sites n the web to keep track of your daily nutrients... as it's total calories that contribute to weight loss or gain, not where they come from.

What are your current goals? at 160lbs are you looking to gain weight? gain muscle? lose weight?

Thank you, for the replys so far, and thanks Maleficent. I have browsed some of the Links on this site, and some are really amazing and are very informative(But will take time to absorb). Currenttly I am 5'7/160lb and my current goals are, to keep jogging(I Love it), get firm and lose FAT. At this moment in time, I do some cardio, some weights and alot of Running. THANKS for the input so far, and to anymore info you can provide, THANKS

How many calories does each pita have? How much fiber?

I would avoid sushi and reserve it for once a week or at worst, eat only 1 sushi roll per meal (my bane is that I eat two during a sushi "sitting"). The rice packs on a buncha calories, and doesn't have the nutritional benefit of less starchy things.

I'd also be conscious of trying to eat either a bunch of spinach or broccoli every day. It can be a little difficult to get either down (even after steaming them) but they have so many vitamins and folates that it is totally worth it. Does make your place stink when you prep it though :p

Also try switching out red meat for (skinless) chicken, so when you aren't having fish, have chicken. red meat is higher in protein (more concentrated per gram) but is also higher in fat and I think lean chicken is more filling (per calorie). 6 oz of filet mignon is about 300 cal, but 6 oz of chicken is about 160 cal.

You could argue about taste, but you won't much remember the taste the day after.

I'm not an expert and do not do this for a living.
