Sport eating healthy - never really satisfied

Sport Fitness
is this normal?

i been eating pretty damn healthy considering how i used to eat for a few weeks now and i notice that i'm never really 100% satisfied. i notice on my cheat day when i have like 2 slices of pizza that i'm "full" and am like ahh nice! on my healthy days i have a big breakfast with

whole wheat toast
egg whites
grapefruit
nuts

or something along those lines and yet i'm like damn i could probably still eat more. obviously i know it's because i'm not intaking the fat i used to but what i want to know is how long does this feeling last? it's like an empty feeling in my stomach and i'm usually almost always hungry!

Not being satisfied is something you kind of have to get used to when training - but you shouldn't be hungry, either. Try eating 6 times per day and see if you feel better - that's about every 3 hours that you can have a good protein and a good carb, which should leave you feeling satisfied for longer.

Haha that's funny I'm the same way. I have this huge breakfast (wheat toast, egg whites, canelope, banana) and like 45 min later I could eat again because I'm hungry. I think that my situation is that I'm burning off more than I'm taking in.

Just make sure you're eating your 6 meals of all good stuff.

But I'd like to hear what others suggest about this- since I feel the same way.

Are you trying to lose weight or just eat healthy?

If you're trying to lose weight, nuts are probably a bad idea. They have a ton of calories through fat for the tiniest portion imo. (I love peanuts and cashews, especially their butters, which make it a sad reality for me).

I have the same problem. Never solved it, so I try to get my mind off of food.

A good vegetable for weight loss is celery (just don't smear peanut butter on it). It's actually near 0 calories when eaten plain considering the work the body has to do to digest it, full of fiber, pretty cheap, and can fill you up.

I disagree on the nuts. He needs some good fat in his breakfast and nuts contain good fat. Either that or throw one or two whole eggs in there instead.

agreed, nothing wrong with nuts if they fit into your goals.

that said, how many calories are you eating? what are your macro totals? typically eating 'clean' means you're eating fewer calories, because the food isn't overly processed and loaded with HFCS and trans fats.

and, you can't really trust your macros unless you're actually measuring your food. weighing chicken, using measuring cups on rice, etc.

what is 100% satisfied for you?? Full? or just satisfied? Cus when you eat right or trying to lose weight you're not supposed to eat too much. When you're too full your metabolism are slowing down cus your body trying to digest the foods. That's why we become sleepy and lazy lol
I agree with Alphafemale that it is something that you need to get use to it. I know after 3 days our body would adjust with our eating rhythms. Maybe in your case it's different, don't give up! YOU CAN DO IT!

I am trying to lose weight but I do heavy weights at the same time. I been trying to include cardio with my routine as well.

I'm 220 lbs, I got a big belly. I was not going to the gym at all and just on my computer all day for about a year. I smoked as well. I been going to the gym 5-6 days a week and quit smoking for the past month and 1/2.

By cleaning up my eating I mean I eat a lot healthier, drink more water and eating smaller portions more often throughout the day.

So overall my eating isn't perfect but considering how bad it used to be and add to the fact that i recently quit smoking I think I'm doing pretty well.

The feeling is more like when you have 2-3 slices of pizza and you're "full" you're never like damn I wish I could have more. When I eat fruit, nuts, stupid little healthy snacks I'm always like ugh "why am I still thinking of food?" lol! I guess I'll just have to get used to it

Yes, you will get used to it. When you overeat, the stomach stretches, so that feeling of 'having eaten enough' takes longer to occur (thus we over eat more and more).

Try to eat more foods that aren't calorie dense. Load up on veggies (not potatoes!), especially the leafy greens. lots of bulky fiber and almost no calories, plus veggies go well with any protein source.

I'm sure at least part of it could be psychological. I know if I even start thinking about restricting my food intake I feel hungry. You could just feel hungry as you know you're not eating as much as you normally would to be satisfied.

I haven't looked into it, but I am sure that your stomach eventually adjusts to accommodate for the amount of food you take in. You know when you have the flu and you feel pukey for a week and don't really eat anything and then when you feel better you get stuffed really fast cause your stomach has shrunk? Logic tells me that eating less (and healthy), your body would eventually adapt to this.

Could be wrong though! Might be interesting to look into.

Watch your carb intake as well. Carbs cause blood sugar to rise and lower and I hate em' for it. Perhaps try including more fat into your breakfast, like using a couple whole eggs instead of the whites.

Don't worry, they won't raise your cholesterol levels, thats a myth. Look at this study if you want proof.

Good luck :)

I read an article that was given to me by my instructors at the Fitness Institute of Australia, and they say things very similar to that article, but they suggest only eating 4 egg yolks a week

Yeah basically they are covering their bases just in case of any previous health complications but really there's no problem.

I'm on the Anabolic Diet and during the week I'm eating 8 eggs, a pound of red meat and at least 4 tablespoons of butter a day with no carbs. Guess what...my HDL went up and LDL went down! Also, every single one of my great uncles has had heart surgery. According to most medical "studies," I should be clutching my chest with one hand and calling 911 with the other :D

Anyhow, moral of the story is, a couple eggs a day (10g of fat) is nothing to worry about :)
