Sport Eating during a workout

I am 95% positive that there was a thread like this, but the search engine sucks and it was weeks if not months ago.

Is it wise to eat during a workout? When I have time to work out, it often coincideds with a meal time.

What do you guys have to say about supersetting with a few bites before going back to your next set?
 
Liquid food is better. Some say Surge, but I'd say if you want food, a protein shake is just as good.
 
I would feel sick.

drinking a sports drink with protien and creatine is good but I dont know about real food.
 
Berardi likes a diluted Surge, or homemade surge of protein powder and dextrose/maltodextrin.

I can't remember the dilution though.
 
I'm talking more on the lines of a formal meal. Like, dinner with the family or something. For instance, do a set, go and eat a few bites of your steak and have some veggies, then go back and hit another set. Repeat.
 
Never tried it... pretty sure I'd end up puking it all out 5 minutes after eating it... Probably pretty difficult for your food to settle in your stomach if you workout hard 30 seconds after taking a bite heh. But if you can keep it all down? I dunno if theres anything wrong with that... other than the puke factor.
 
Well, the body diverts energy to the digestive system, moreso when you've just eaten, so you may be compromising the intensity of your workouts.
 
Clearly LeiYunFat if you're living at home with Mummy and Daddy and they require you to do meals with the family, it would be in your best interest to try your best to do that... in lieu of breaking off and standing up on only what yourself have ...

If you need to do the meal do it.. just make sure you balance yor acids fluid wise when you're eating... like hot water or juice or milk or flavoured milk or an effervescent vit b guarana shot or lemon juice or soda water or whatver to make sure youre still balanced for the type of burn or whatever you need to get on for your upcomming sesh..
do the meals ... but just portion control it and eat for what you're about to do and drink something to help it best digest and be available.;).

Yeah I'd defiantly be sick.
 
If it's important to keep peace in your life Lei, you'll work it in and work around it...or you'll move .

Just give yourself a good 40 mins ish before you get into it and you should be okay.;)


Can you decide your portions of each component and top up later or is it a situation where you're expected to eat everything on your plate????

i eat a can of pure tuna (exchangable w/ two glasses of whey protein) and some carnation instant breakfast mixed with skim milk before i do a muscle workout, and i do cardio on an empty stomache... and plenty of ice cold water during both.
im still looking into manipulating my complex carbs to spare muscle during cardio workouts though, i just made a thread about it. "how much is too much?"
