Sport eating bread

Sport Fitness
Whole wheat bread has been a staple of my diet ever since I started this whole health kick. However I read an article at stronglifts.com that listed bread as a "healthy" food thats not really that healthy for you. This gave me concern on if I'm eating too much bread or if the type I'm eating is the good enough.

Currently I'm bulking up so I eat 2 pb sandwiches a day... thats 4 slices of bread a day. I also alternate between salmon burgers and chicken breasts on a weekly basis. So on salmon week thats an additional 2 more slices of bread.
Is this too much?
When cutting I only eat 1 pb sandwich.

As far as the type, I use Van Dee Kamp's Whole Wheat bread, pretty much the cheapest loaf of whole wheat at the store but it seems to have more fiber/protein, less sugar than the more fancy ones.

on a bulk its not so bad, though I'd be eating more potatoes and oatmeal for my carbs on a bulk than refined carbs like bread.

i'm not a real fan of bread, because it is fairly processed. corn looks like corn, barley looks like barley, and oats look like oats. Bread doesn't remotely resemble its source components.

I guess it depends how "healthy" you wanna go. Remember that everyone has some "evils" in their diet and the general ethos says everything in moderation is not a bad thing. As long as your not eating bread every single day for two meals and having the same foods every day you should be fine. No one is perfect and allowing yourself a few slices of bread every week is far from terrible!

Guess it depends on what your aims are.

Try some sprouted grain bread like Ezekiel bread. It's the only kind I'll use. Has a very low glycemic hit unlike regular breads.

Were the same, I also love breads. My eating routine is not complete without bread. But then I also alarm when I read an article about bread. So I decided to reduce eating bread.

I agree with malkore. Switching things up a bit with oatmeal and potatoes can cut that bread intake down a bit and you'll still be getting a good amount of carbs without all that starch.

I'll admit I'm a bit strict on food choices.
They do make these round bread things that are bread (not a pita/flat bread) but they are wicked thin and high fiber. Pretty moderate on the carbs...i think they're only 90 calories per two slice serving, 3-4g of fiber maybe. its some brand like Earth Grains that does em. I get them at the local grocery chain.
Even still, I might have one once per week. I stick to more fruits and veggies, oats and rice, corn and potatoes are also less refined starch sources.

the fewer ingredients and the more it looks like its original form, the better. that's how I try to view it.
