Sport Eating after workouts

Sport Fitness
Obviously eating after weight training is a must. But I was curious as to what the general consensus was on eating after late night workouts. I workout from 8:00 on. Will eating whats required for an after weight training workout, late at night, right before you go to bed have any negative effects? Just seems bad to drink your protein shakes full of calories and sleep on it.

Don't drink a high calorie protein drink...you can easily get some whey with about 150 calories per 24grams protein.
If you subscribe to the 6 meals per day idea, then you are going to be eating something pretty late anyway. Only problem here is that this late is not the best time for a lot of carbs. One of the better things to eat that late would be something like cottage cheese in order to take in some casein protein.

when it all comes down to it, its all about the calories, and if you can fit in a 600 calorie shake right before bed, without going over your daily limits, then by all mean imo do it.

I usually workout at 1 am and get home around 2. I then down around 1 litre of chocolate milk, or something that has protein/carb equivalence.

well.....

I tried the cottage cheese last night about 1 a.m before bed, but I think I might take on the shake without worrying because I never go over may daily calorie intake.....thanx for the advice guys!

Drinking your carbs/protein is fine no matter the time of your workout.
