If you eat after you exercise will your body store the food you eat? I'm not sure if I should eat my dinner before I go to the gym, I have been having breakfast 8-9am lunch 12pm then dinner at 7pm, on the days I go to the gym - I go at 6pm one day, don't finish till 7pm and then 7pm on my 2nd day and finish at 8pm, i do circuit and body conditioning classes. I'm also on a diet so even if i do eat after i exercise i don't over eat as i track everything.. so really all I'm wondering is am i undoing all the work Ive done at the gym by having dinner after or doesn't it make a difference?
Thanks.

It's actually very important to get protein and some carbs in your body within 30 minutes of a workout to help with recovery and protein synthesis (process that creates muscle). By not eating after a workout, you're letting your muscles break down. Have a snack a little bit before you workout to keep your metabolism going and have dinner a.s.a.p. after your workout. Make sure you're getting a good amount of protein, but it's best if its not from meat at night. Meat takes a while to digest and you don't want it sitting in your system all night while you sleep (but if thats all you have then go ahead and have meat since thats far better than no protein at all).

Definitely eat something straight after your workout. If you go to bed quite late then eating your dinner after the workout will be fine. If you go to bed early then try eating your dinner earlier, a few hours before your workout - or even swapping lunch and dinner if you think you will be too full to work out. Then you can have a protein shake after the workout instead so that you are feeding your muscles straight away with easily digestable protein and carbs. As cravefitness mentioned, if you don't feed your body within around 30 minutes of working out your body can start cannibalizing lean muscle tissue - and you definitely don't want to work out for nothing!

Lots of persons are extremely hungry after a workout, doing it easy to eat more than you actually need, or select foods that won’t truly help your body. The suitable time to eat after a workout is within 30 minutes or after two hours. Liquids like smoothies, shakes, or chocolate milk can be specifically efficient snacks after a workout.
