Sport Eat a protein with a carb?

Sport Fitness
Eat a protein with a carb is what I've been hearing lately, but what I was wondering is this:

Is it one gram of protein to one gram of carbs?

Is it one serving of protein to one serving of carbs?

Is it one calorie of protein to one calorie of carbs?

I know this is probably a freakin' stupid question, but I really want to get on the right track.

Advice, please!

One Serving

It's just one serving of protein to one serving of carbs. You don't have to get too technical about it I don't think :)

I use the diabetic exchance measurements:

1 meat = 7 grams protein
1 starch = 15 grams carbs (from grain/starch source)
1 fruit = 15 grams of carbs (from fruit source)
1 veggie = 1 cup cooked/raw vegetables
1 milk = 1 cup (8 grams protein and 12 grams carbs)

Thanks! I'm a "specifics" kinda girl. This really helps!

No prob! To give you an idea, this is a typical day for me:

8:00 am - 1 protein, 1 carb, 1 milk

10:00 am - 1 protein, 1 carb, 1 fruit

12:30 pm - 2 protein, 1 carb, 1 fruit, 1 veggie

3:00 pm - 1 carb, 1 fruit, 1 milk

5:30 pm - 3 protein, 2 veggie, 1 carb

8:00 pm - 1 veggie, 1 protein, 1 milk

I do sometimes get pretty technical, if that's the info people are looking for. 1 gram of protein and 1 gram of carb both have 4 calories. So they're pretty equal. On the other hand, 1 gram of fat has 9 calories. Typically when I create detailed nutrition plans for my clients I call a "serving" of each carb and protein 25 grams. But that's not always the case. It depends on the person.

Hope that helps!
