EAS 100% Whey Protein?

I've been looking for a good and affordable whey protein supplement to take. I've read a good bit on this forum about Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard and how much people like it, but was wondering about this other type; EAS 100% Whey Protein. Has anyone tried it? I am normally the kind of person who believes if it's cheaper then it's not as good, but Sam's Club has EAS for a very reasonable price. Here's some basic info:

-23 grams of high quality protein to feed muscles for maximum lean mass
-New upgraded formula with an awesome new taste driven by quality proteins and flavor system
-High concentrate of Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) and glutamine to enhance muscle growth and repair
-3g total carbs
-120 calories/serving (if I remember right, but this is close)
-Cholesterol 65 * Sugars 1 g * Transfat 0 * Sat Fat 1 g (these numbers may not be from a super reliable source)

If anyone has experience with this I would appreciate your input. Also, if anyone can just look at the information above and let me know what you think that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

From what you have listed it looks fine.

How much are you paying for it? How many lb tub?

It's a 6 lb resealable bag for $28.82. I think it has 90 servings. How's that sound?

Go here to take a look:

Seems like a great deal.. I'd jump on it. Just watch the cholesterol, which is a problem with a lot of protein powders.

The cholesterol is 65mg per serving. Which is apparently 22% of the daily value. ON 100% Whey Gold Standard has 30mg per serving. So I can see the difference there in quality I guess. Has anyone ever tasted the EAS whey protein? I'd hate to get 90 servings that I'd then have to choke down for a while.

With the price difference I'd still get it, you'd just have to pay attention to it. I dunno about the taste though.. Find another website that sells it and look @ the reviews.

many many years ago I used EAS whey. it was ok for taste, but they changed somethign about the vanilla and I didn't like it anymore.

but its been so long I'm sure they changed things again to stay competitive.

It tastes like s*** at least the banana one does. Dont get that one. The choc is ok not great though. They are the only two I have tried.

Well, I've bought and tried the EAS Chocolate and don't think it's too bad. It's no chocolate milk, but certainly edible. The only small issue with it is clumping (quite a few small clumps floating at the top) but that doesn't bother me much since I'm not trying to drink it for enjoyment. I've usually got it gone within a minute or so. I've only tried fork mixing so far and will be trying with a blender sometime soon to see if that gets rid of the lumps a little more.

This is the first whey protein I've tried so I can't give a side-by-side comparison, but I believe it's plenty good enough for how much money you save over most other whey protein. I would recommend (at the price I got it for) especially if the budget is a big factor.

EAS = $28.82 for 6 lbs :jump1:

ON 100% WGS ~$40 (with a good buy somewhere) for 5lbs

I guess to each his own. Right?

I actually have a five pound tub of EAS and also a five pound tub of the ON 100% gold standard.

I definitely like the taste more for the ON, and everything else really.

But the EAS was fine, real cheap too.

I just bought a bag at Sam's yesterday. Tried it and it's okay (vanilla). My main purpose for this will be as a main ingredient in my protein/fiber waffles, so cheaper whey is fine, since cooking with it destroys some of the benefits that a more expensive isolate would give anyway.

I've always had the opinion that even cheap whey is still a darn high quality protein, and it's sure better than nothing at all. The EAS has a little more fat and cholesterol than I'd like, but at least it's not going to bring back my love handles like a muscle milk would!
