DVD player

lol, okay I know I'm stretching the meaning of fitness equipment here a bit, but I've been looking for a portable dvd player to use while I'm at the gym. I don't want to pay more than $200, I don't want it to break in less than a year (imagine that!), I don't want to have to plug it into the wall, and I want it to be thin enought to rest on the eliptical/cross trainer that I generally use. I'm hoping there are other people that have a dvd player that they use while on the exercise machine that can give me a suggestion from personal experience, because so far a can't find a single player that fits these criteria. Please help!

Thanks.

What about one of file players like the Ipod that supports video?

I thoughgt about that, but I wan't to be able to rent DVD's of netflix so I have an unending supply of new movies to watch, so an Ipod doesn't really work unfortunately. Too bad, because they would definitely fit on a machine!

This girl that does cardio next to me in the mornings has a real nice one that she brings with her. I will see what kind it is tomorrow....

just be extra careful with these things... i've seen a ton of people in the gym hurt themselves when they drop their dvd player / mp3 players / radio / phone etc, try to grab it, lose their balance, and fall of the machine they were using

ouch! I'll keep that in mind. I actually had a dvd player before that ended up flying off the machine and I wasn't able to grab it. But the situation was a little out of the ordinary because I happened to be on a broken machine (of course I didn't know it at the time).

Hmm I have Independence Day, Casablanca, Blue, White and Red, and the first two DVD's of Mr. Bean on mine...

It's possible yes, but practicality is another issue as it takes a while to get the movie from the DVD onto an Ipod.

Check that software out. If you go with netflix, you can make copies of all your dvd's and put them on ipod, disc, or harddrive.

I really don't want to buy another ipod. I already have one that doesn't play videos. Plus, technically it's illegal for me to rent a movie and copy it onto my ipod. Plus, it sounds like a lot more effort to get the movie, transfer it to my ipod, watch it, then delete when my ipod starts to get full. If I'm watching 4 movies a week. I'm sure it won't take long to fill it up. Plus, the screen is about 2 inches. (I know some people, including my sister, say it's big enought, but I'm looking for something 4.5-7".

I'm interested in a dvd player. If no one uses them, that's fine, I'll experiment. I just assumed that someone out there would have some sort of experience. What I'm finding so far is that 99% of the tablet dvd players out there are crap, so I was looking for some input from someone that already has one they like.

True enough - but in general I think those that are looking for a good portable DVD solution would opt for a laptop PC with that functionality in it...

I'm not trying to sound rude at all, but I'm not "most people". A laptop style dvd player isn't ideal for using on the exercise machine at the gym. I've been pretty clear about what I want. If you don't know anything that fits that description, that's fine, maybe someone else does...

video ipod ftw!
