Sport Drinking whole milk...

Sport Fitness
It's all I've ever drank my whole life... nonfat and skim look like water to me :jump1:

My question is- Are there any negatives to drinking it? I'm not really trying to lose weight (maybe 5 lb MAX to tighten up my tummy), but rather build muscle and improve my overall level of fitness. I usually have either a bowl of Cheerios or hot cereal/oatmeal for breakfast with whole milk, and a piece of fruit to top it off. I know it's higher in calories and fat than skim or non fat milk, but if I'm not worried about that, then is there anything to worry about?

On the plus side- I went to Safeway yesterday, and got milk for $3.98 for 2 gallons, with the 2 gallon purchase. I can't remember the last time it was that cheap around here! :cool2:

I drank whole milk into my early twenties. I drink 2% now. Have been for 15 years. If I drink whole milk now, it tastes like heavy cream. I'll never drink skim, just looks and tastes like dirty washwater to me.

Same here, used to drink whole milk as kid, switched to 2%, then 1% when it came out (yes I'm that old school) and then skim... Now, cottage cheese and greek yogurt...

Taste should be a non-issue if you really care about results IMHO

What about goats milk?

You ever tried goats milk? I started using it the other week and I think it's 10x better than cow's milk.

It's very tasty, has a light feel to it. I read some where that they done some trials changing the normal cows milk for goats milk and feed some babies with it, the goats milk digested 3x faster than the cows milk!

Anyway it's definitely worth looking into.

I'll look into it for sure. Too bad I didn't see this earlier this morning, I just bought 2 gallons at the store :action2: Can't beat the 2 for $3.98 right now!

I only drink semi-skinned at the worst. I have started having the "one" milk (purple containers) with my protein shakes now which makes them taste so much better :)

One thing about milk, if any of you have a farmers market or veggie store by your house, they usually sell cheap milk, 2.99 per gallon by me.

Another thing is for people who mix their Post Workout Shake with milk, you should avoid it as it slows the absorbtion of the shake. You want to just use whey, water, and a simple sugar (dextros or maltodextrin).
