dried skimmed milk powder

hi, i do a lot of endurance and also need to build up some upper body strength for an assault course race so need a lot of protein. I'm not prepared to pay the price of the whey powder or all that kind of stuff but i read on the net that you can make your own protein shake out of dried skimmed milk off the supermarket shelf; it's 36% protein 52% carbs and bugger all fat which suits me fine.
what i'm wandering;

is it's BV any good?

the recipe is 500ml water(or milk) + 50g milk powder +any flavouring ;will it be as quick to digest and as affective if i make it with twice the amount of milk powder? (it's a lot to drink otherwise)

can i heat up the shake (make a hot chocolate out of it) without affecting the BV?

Your better off just getting some regular whey protein. It has 23 grams of protein, 3 carbs, and I think 1 fat (if not 0) not counting the milk. Its biological value is 100-102 making a very quick dissolving protein next to eggs. Mix it with milk (a slow dissolving protein called casein) and you will have a very good protein shake.

The BV of powdered milk when mixed with water is the same as the BV of milk if that helps at all, its just milk with no water so when you add the water you again have milk. It's mostly a slower digesting protein (casein) I sometimes mix my whey with milk or put milk powder in and add water to give me a slow digesting protein along with the whey.
