HI Everyone,
I'm 41 , 5"5' and 181 lbs. I have been overwieght for the past 5 years (steady climb) mostly due to my love of drinking white russians while working outside. I absolutley love milk. God forbid I drink anything but WHOLE vitamin D! Jioned a gym and was doing well, then had to work two jobs and didn't go much for the past year and a half. Now I am at an all time high and my blood pressure is up. I was planning on doing the "New Year's" resolution thing anyway, but now have the serious motivation I needed. 11 years ago I hurt my back and started a working out and using the gym, instead of just giving it money. The day I had a painfree half hour led to seriously working out for many years. Now I have that same motivation. I winded up starting two days after Christmas . Haven't had a drink since and I'm not freaking out!!! Normally after 2 days I feel like its been six and start making excuses to go for it.
At the gym I go to they are having thier own" Biggest Loser" challenge. Me and 2 friends have signed up. It starts this coming Monday. But, for my first week I have already lost 2 lbs and 1.75 inches!!! I'm looking for all the help I can get to stick with it. I swore I would not be "fat & forty", well I turned 41 3 weeks ago......

1.75 inches- thats awesome!! I did really good for a while, then bad  but then good again :) so keep up the good work!!:D

WOW!!! Only posted 10 minutes ago!!! This is so cool! I am not doing any fad diets, since I know in order for this to work I have to make life changes. I smoked for 27 years and succesfully quit 4 months ago. My mind was finally ready and I did it, COLD TURKEY. That's how I feel now about my wieght. No more excuses. I'm ready! When I was going to the gym all the time they had a great class called Bodypump which was my all time favorite. Its an hour long wieght lifting class set to music. My biggest strugle with the gym is doing more cardio. I'm trying for at least 3 days with step classes and 2 for Bodypump. I found that group classes keep me more focused and less inclined to do the old " that's enough for now". So far I could only do half the class. Tommorrow I will try and do the whole class. ......

week 2

Tommorrow the Challenge starts at the gym. I am now signed up as an individual and as a team, our team name: MISSION POSSIBLE. Tommorrow the gym is also launching a new class "Body combat". From what I hear so far its going to be a tough one. My one team member goes to the gym the same time as me, so we will push each other to get through this class....AAGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So far I could only do little more then half a step class. We'll see...
I decided to do my "wiegh in & measurements" at home on Sundays, instead of Monday, cause I have more time in the morning. Although everything so far was done on a Tuesday. That said: I'm two days early and I lost 2 more pounds and 2 inches!!!!! I'm so pyched!!!!! Went out yesterday and bought a pair of jeans, a little to small (size12), to also measure my progress and make me feel real good when they fit like they should. I'll wait a little then buy another pair, size 10. Goal: SIZE 8! Funny thing.... even just 5 years ago I would of said size 6, I finally realize the differnce between being skinny and being a healthy looking thin. Therefore, size 8 looks much better on me then size 6.:D :D ::D

I can officailly now do a whole step class!!! Yahoo! Yesterday I doubled dipped and did both bodystep & bodypump. I was TIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRREEEED. Although I NEVER leave the gym without soaking & strecthing in the hottub. The ony thing a little tender is the upper outside of my arms.
There is a lot to be said about what you can feel is different and what you can see. SO far I look at me and don't see any difference. BUT... just two weeks ago I was always in pain with mt back. My saving grace was my bed at night, but then even that was a nightmare anymore. I wasn't getting much sleep cause I was always in pain. In the last two weeks I noticed that its gone!!!!! Today I can tell my pants are looser!!!
AHHHHH, God is watching over me and life is good. Monday is our first weigh in and I am perfectly confident that there will be a difference. I believe I am being perfectly reasonable to expect a 2lb wieght loss each week. I measure myself also, I know sooner or later I will have a week or two or.... that the scale isn't going to budge, but most likey my measurements will. I know that right now I am losing fat and building muscle. Bodypump is truly an awesome weightlifting class, if they have it in a gym near you CHECK IT OUT!!
After 27 years of smoking, I woke up one morning 4 months ago and I decided I wasn't smoking anymore. Cold Turkey I quit and never looked back, barely had a craving for one. I was just simply ready. That's how I felt 2 days after xmas. I was ready to stop drinking , get back to the gym and get my health back. Drinking is probably the absolute sole reason for my extra 50lbs over the past 6 years. I would go 2 days and swear it had to be 5 already. Always had a good excuse to have a few to. Its been almost 3 weeks now! I went over a week before I even realized it. I KNOW in June I will wake up one day, look in the mirror and say " hey girl! you good looking thing, where have you been?" To bad I didn't have that attitude when I was that thin.....the only thing I can say to that : with age comes wisdom

Good juob at giving up the drinks! I;m gkad you have string motivation and I wish you the best of luck on the challenge.

Thanks Sara! I love your "mini goal"!!! I can't get mine off period! Gave up on my engagement ring 30 lbs ago. One of the prongs was bent , so I took it off, planning to get it fixed. well I never got around to it and before I knew it, it wasn't going back on! I am so used to not wearing it, I forgot all about it. What an extra perc that will be, to wear my engagemnet ring again!!

YAHOOO!!! Lost 3 more pounds and 2.5 inches this past week!!! Hope my scale matches the "weigh in" at the gym. I adjusted mine, much to my dismay.....mine shed an extra 5!!! I finally stopped trying to kid myself and adjusted the scale. I am now where I was before the "Holidays" started and I was eating & drinking anything I felt like since I knew it was going to stop once the new year came....

Ok... my scale and the gym's scale were a pound off. Still 2 lbs is good. I am doing a steady 2 lbs a week. So far one of my team members weighed in and she lost 5.5 lbs!!! Waiting for the other one. I think we are off to a great start!!
The gym I go to is Healthquest. Its HUGE. Its like the candystore of gyms. There is so much to do there, its also very expensive. Many, many of the women you see during the day are housewives with time on thier hands who live in "mcmansions", have a humungus rock on thier left finger and thier biggest dilema is what continent to go on vacation...oh, and don't let me forget the bought and paid for "racks", tummy tucks and lipo. Ok, they 're not all bad, I'm just a little green with envy. My life should be as tough as thiers....
I have a bad back, got probably over $80,000 invested in it by now. On top of everything else that working out is good for, it keeps me off of painkillers. That is my justification for paying a rediculous amount of money for this gym.:D :D

your gym sounds fancy! i wish mine had a pool, sauna and hot-tub. that would be awesome.

still, we have bodypump and bodystep, i really like them too!

keep up the great work :)

Hey Jester...all i can think of is Top Gun when I see your name here LOL...
anyway...Sounds like you are working hard & doing well! Good luck & keep it up!

who else goes to goodlife? I love the place! I have been a member since oct 05, the one i go to is all women, and have i said i love it!!

been way busy with the gym, work and a fund raising dinner/auction I do every year. Still plugging along pretty good. I have now lost 11 lbs and over 10 inches!!!! Yahoo!!!! My pants are getting LOOSER. The final weigh in for the "challenge" is in 3 weeks. Me and one of the girls on my team, we are set to kepp it going till we hit our goal weights. This challenge was just what I needed to get my butt back to the gym on a regular basis, for my partner, the motivation to eat right. we are both doing great and still highly motaivated to keep it up. 'M" has lost 11.5 lbs in the past 5 weeks. I am really confident that I will be my old weight by summer. oh yeah, I'm going to own the beach this summer!! I am going to be one forty & fabulous momma!!! next week I get my blood pressure checked. So far its been my only dissapiontment, its not budging. But I'm optimistic, it will get better!

Wow! You are doing great. Keep up the good work!
