Does workout time matter?

I do training with minimal rest a lot (whether it's supersets or HIT or whatever you want to call it). I only take 45-60sec breaks between sets and maybe 60-120sec break between exercises/circuits. I tend to finish in a very short period of time. Ex: today I did 4 sets of flat bench, 3 sets of decline, 3 sets of barbell rows, 4 sets of seated rows, 3 sets of cable crunches, and 3 sets of obliques in about 25 minutes. Obviously with more rest the time would be longer, but I wouldn't be doing any more sets. So does it matter than I'm done in 25 minutes instead of 40 or 45 (or whatever it would be)?

How many reps? And are your weights light, moderate or heavy?

I've switched the amount of reps over time, but usually it's 8-12 (mostly 10-12). The weights are whatever I can handle for 3-4 sets of that many reps. Obviously they're lighter than what it would be if I was resting longer

Seems right to me then. Maybe you're super-setting? It also sounds like you don't chat with anyone. lol

lol yeah no chatting, and I usually am doing supersets. Either that or circuits, whatever name you want to put on it (ex: bench, rows, cable crunch...repeat)

My current workout takes me roughly 45 to 50 minutes. My workout a year ago took me 90-120 minutes. It varies on what you re trying to do and how you go about that.

I spend a full hour working out, but probably not much more than 25 minutes on weights. I work out in a small gym we have at work (on the company dime) so I want to get my money's worth! I start out, or sometimes finish up with 20 minutes of intense cardio, usually running stairs. I make up a weight training circuit, which changes every day, and go around it 3 times. I may take a 'break', and do some kick boxing or yoga in between sets. Weight training doesn't get my pulse up much, so I try to fit in cardio stuff. I also try to stretch a muscle group after working it, so all-in-all, it isn't hard to fill up an hour. I tend to do my lifts slowly and in control- I feel like I get more out of it than jerking the weights rapidly. If I do chin-ups as fast as I can, I can do 15 without too much trouble. But if each one is slow and deliberate, it's hard to do 10.

Exercise and the nightshift...

Hi everyone..

Currently im on the graveyard shift at work...and when I get home I usually got straight to bed..My plan was to workout as soon as I wake up..but by that time Im really NOT in the mood to workout...so I was wondering if i should workout when I get home from work, wait a while and then go to bed. Im clueless and Im wondering if me doing this will be as effective if I worked out when I wake up...will I still lose weight? HELP

Check out a crossfit workout. For most people who are have been doing it a while, most of the workouts will have you in and out of the gym in about 30 minutes. Great cardio and if you dont think its burning calories, i dare you to go try.

LCB working out anytime will help you get in shape. I believe i read that testosterone levels are at their lowest in the mornings, but i unfortunately do not have the literature on hand so dont quote me.

What you are doing is best for everybody...get in, do your stuff and get out.. I hate gym rats who are there for hours and don't workout at all ..just taking up space.

I am same way..I just stay in gym for an hour though...just because I spend last 15-20 minutes on abs and don't take lot of gap in between sets
