Does Diet and Exercise Really Work?

AI don't have any links to articles but let me just say that I myself have personally been eating healthier and tryin to get at least a small bit of exercise in daily. The better you treat and take care of your body the better shape it will be in, and I believe this is common knowledge.

I've been keeping at it for probably a month and a week (although I got sick and didn't work out for 4 days halfway through).

Within 2 months of eating right I went from an 11 pantsize to a 7. I added exercise and 2 weeks after I really started my regimen I'm down to a size 5 pant.

Diet in itself really helps, although if you want quicker results, more energy, and muscle to give your new body shape exercise is good to interpret into your daily life as much as possible.

Good luck on your journey!

I could point you to well over a hundred studies (actualy reference texts - not internet links, although I could find those too) but it would be a massive waste of time.

If you are finding it difficult to beleive that eating healthy and exercising improves your body composition and burns fat then I would say you are most likely procrastinating and looking for reasons to justify why you don't want to start a regime.

Movement (exercise) and nutrients (diet) is what the human body is fuelled by, To even question that it may not help weight loss is ridiculous.

Sorry, dont mean to sound harsh but there's no other way to put it.

I don't have articles, like the others who have posted, but I have information from my trainer and my nutritionist. The basic idea is anyone can lose weight simply by making changes to their diet. If you cut your calories just right you will lose weight. One of my friends (a guy who was a big muscle builder guy) ate nothing but big macs at mcdonalds, but he always made sure he burned more calories in a day than he too in from his food. Not the healthiest choice, but it technically does work.

However, if your goal is to not just lose weight but be healthier, you should not only eat a well balanced diet in your caloric intake range, but you should also work out. More muscle burns more calories which means increase in fat loss.

I can be one of many to say that it does work. From diet and exercise I have lost over 50lbs in less than a year. I have 25 to go to hit my goal.

There are other ways people can lose weight (ei surgery) however even with those options diet is very important. I have had friends who have done all the options, (band, staple, bypass) and each one had to make very serious diet changes for the surgeries to work. The ones that had the BEST results worked out on top of their diet changes. the ones who only ate well had some weight loss but not as drastic as my friends that did both. The ones that had surgery and did neither loss weight in the beginning, but put it back on after a few months.

Weight Loss Diet and Regular Exercise both are very important for Effective Weight Loss. You can find lots of Article about Diet and Exercise online.

is OP a troll?

for real i mean, do you think diet and exercise are gonna make you gain weight?:willy_nilly:

bottom line is everyone one is different. so do an experiment: eat candy and fast food for a week, do as little physically as possible. next week eat a very strict diet of rice, fruit and vegetables, and exercise at least one hour every day. post results.

You should be very honest to your diet as well as your physical exercise. If you are regular and consistent then you can definitely loose your desired weight.

Yes, proper diet and exercise work. What holds back some people, in my opinion, is more emotional or psychological. Having been a very obese person at one point in my life I would have to say that sticking with proper diet and exercise was difficult for me because eating food made me feel happy and being very fat gave me a good excuse to not try to accomplish much in life.

I have tried many fad diets, pills, wishes, etc. to lose weight in my life and proper diet and exercise is the only thing that has ever worked.
