Does anyone train every day, without breaks

Hello.

Does anyone here train every single day, with no, or very few, irregular breaks?

I have fairly recently started to develop my athleticism (~6 months) and at the moment breaks seem nescessary for me. But I am wondering if it's possible to reach a point where I can train every day of the year, with no need for breaks?

Assuming you have the 'mental toughness' to train every day, can the body adapt so that you can train at 100% intensity with only 24 hours in between workouts?

Not many people would be able to handle it. I'm sure there is a very small percentage of people on this planet that could train everyday, but the body needs rest.

When I train for my half marathons, I only run 3, 4 days max a week. I am 6'2 205 and my body (legs) just cant handle much more.

As far as weight training, with the aide of protein and creatine, I can go 5-6 days a week if I am motivated, but thats only doing high rep work, not heavy weight. Even if I do that for a month or two, I will take a week off to recover.

Out of curiosity sake, why do you ask?

Out of curiosity sake, why do you ask?

Because when I don't train, I am extremely bored. I do things that get me into trouble. It's like leaving a massive 'void' in my life when I take breaks. So I want to learn how I can develop myself so that I don't need to.

i guess some people can train every day of the year but those people typically won't. The body needs rest and even really fit people need recovery weeks every month, improvment in fitness and muscles happen during rest. The exercise provides the stimulase for the body to adapt, i.e. get fitter. And these adpatations happen during rest/ sleep.
So yes in theory SOME people can train everyday but it really is not worth it.

What do you mean by 'it's not worth it'?

Are you saying the emotional/mental effects of training every day would be too harsh?

As that seems to be my issue at the moment, I feel like my body is starting to reach a point where it can be trained every day with little rest, but the emotional effects are just too much to bear - and it is this, not the physical pain, that causes me to take breaks.

My training makes me extremely irritable, angry, short-tempered, miserable, inattentive, and generally emotionally ****. After a 2 day break I feel absolutely fine, cheery, and no longer irritable. Does anyone else face this problem, can it be overcome, ie can I learn to 'talk' myself out of it, and remain emotionally balanced even when training constantly?

I train 4-6 days a week, closer to the 6 days if I am training for a run or something. Last year the longest I didn't train was two weeks and that's because I got a spider bite on my toe lol. Even when I went on holidays I went running in the morning. I don't train HARD everytime,, there was a time there I was overtraining and I was having trouble staying asleep and signs of my bulimia were coming back so I have to cut it down. Everything in moderation :)

if i dont train for a while i'll get really annoyed and irritable. But normally I train six days a week with a recovery week every month. And the reason why I said its not worth it, is because the body would be knackered and muscle growth etc. won't be able to happen or it will be limited, plus, no offense to anyone but even if I was fit enough to train everyday I wouldnt, I need to be with my mates and out and about.

I like to train every day and I generally take 1 day off every 6 - 10 days. I can work/travel long hours so endurance and the ability to drive through fatigue is essential. I have been doing this programme for 3 years now and I find the trick is to let yourself plateau for months before pushing the programme to another level. It has worked and I have yet to take a week off - I have had two sets of 4 days off due to illness but then got back into it straight away. That's not to say every training session is great - some really hurt!!! S

I feel "guilty" on days I take as rest days, and once or twice have gone a full 7 days with no rest day as I hate the fat/self loathing feeling I get when I am not at the end of a gym day. But eventually I do take a rest day and you know what? the day following that rest day is way better then any of the 6 previous days. My heart rate, my averages, my calorie burn....what strength/levels I can take....

So for me anyway, rest days do make a posative difference- and the difference is that much that its enough for me to "live" with the fat lazy feeling I get when I take a rest day/s a week!

But seriously, if you find you want to workout every day, go do it, but don't do it because you feel you should or because you worry a rest day is pointless, a rest day can make all the difference depending on what you ask for with your workout.

When I workout, I aim to push it to the max, as much as I can do, as hard as I can for as long as I can manage. Hence why after about 3 days I generally flagging and really need a rest day. But some of you maybe workout at a different level or work different muscle groups each day.... so likely a different story.
