Hi, I am 23 years old and have been gaining on pounds and this is getting to me. The thing is that after several efforts of exercise and dieting, I don’t seem to get any slimmer! There are many ways to lose weight, but I have exhausted all the ways I know. I have consulted a few people but all of them have been telling me the same thing. It isn’t helping me and only making my fears worse.

Is there some way to make me feel better!!!

Spend some time reading the stickied threads around the forum.. and maybe giving a little detail about yourself

What are your current stats? height/weight/measurements

What have you attempted
What were the results and why did you give up?

What are your fears?

What are people telling you?

What works - is pretty simple - no magic - no special tricks - use more calories than you take in. and Im willing to bet thats not what you want to hear -you want to hear take this pill - eat this and do that and magic will happen -but it doesnt

what does that mean -get a decent calorie range that you can work with (note: that is generally not 1200 for the majority of people out there) exercise moderately - Record everything you put into your mouth - Teach yourself what a portion size is -most people think they know what a proper portion is -but if they actually took a few extra seconds to measure -turns out they're wrong.. and underestimating calories and above all - be consistent in your behavior.

Like mal said, record everything that you eat. I eat "healthy" foods (lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, etc, etc) so I couldn't understand why I wasn't losing weight. Then when I started recording what I ate, I realize that all those healthy calories were still just calories. Gotta eat less calories than you burn!

I was exactly in the same boat when I started my project... It's total calories that count -healthy or unhealthy -it's all about the calorie...

Hi Jinny,

I've been very happy with the Zone. I lost 100 pounds and have beeen able to keep it off. I've got lots friends who've been equally successful with it. It's a very sensible and balanced diet/lifestlye, and is easy to do. No hunger, and tons of energy. You eat moderate amounts of lean proteins, lots of veggies and fruit, and some monounsaturated fat at every meal. You eat a minimum of 5 times a day. It has a lot of flexibility built in so it's easy to fit to your tastes in food as well as to your daily schedule. You also do a moderate amount of exercise, whatever you choose. It can anything from taking a walk for 30 min (or even marching in front of the TV as you watch your favorite TV show) to runnign marathons if that's your thing. The Zone diet adjusts to support your level of exercise.

Good luck!

How long did u stick to each thing? I just went through a spat about 3 weeks where I was watching what I ate and worked out but the number on the scale was not budging. I had taken pictures before I started it all and retook the pictures and compared the two. There was a HUGE difference. I lost about 4 inches all over and could see the rolls were smaller. So just because the number on the scale isn't moving, maybe things are changing in your body. Just something I ran into!
