Doctor advises weightwatchers?

Hi all, long time reader first time poster here – please be gentle with me!

I consider myself to be a healthy enough man in my late 30’s who admittedly has a touch of a tummy forming after a couple of decades of looking rather trim. As a result of this my doctor has recommended I join weightwatchers in an effort to make some healthy changes and drop some weight. Thing is, I actually consider myself to be in decent shape all things considered, fair enough I have a little paunch but generally speaking I consider myself to be in proportion and carry the weight well. Without wishing to sound big headed, I still have plenty of success with the ladies and am often complemented both at work and in local bars about how I don’t look my age. In fact there are a couple of young fillies at work who I think would be happy to be underneath me tubby or not!

My question is, should I be worried about what my doctors says or should I just trust my instincts – I think weight watchers is a bit of a drastic move. Anybody else been in a similar position?

Thanks

Have you thought about calculating your BMI to see whether it falls into the healthy range? There are loads of on-line BMI calculators available.

Don't worry about being big-headed - I know a number of obese people who are very popular with the opposite sex - a discerning person does not just look at pounds and ounces... A vivacious personality will always be attractive.

I am not aware of anyone else who has been told to diet by a doctor when they have had a healthy weight.
Sometimes our instincts can be right and sometimes our instincts can be wrong.

Check out the BMI - if it isnt in the healthy range - consider taking some form of action.
