do your trainers really matter?

hello all,new to the forum here.

Ive been working out for a while using the gym,and a friend of mine s going to be picking up running soon,so i though i might join him to help keep me fit.

anyways, the reason he hasnt started yet is because he says he wants to wait till he gets proper running shoes.so i asked him would i not be ok running in converse and he said it will destroy my feet after a while.

is this true?if so,what type of running shoes should i get??

thanks,

-karl

If you undertake prolonged running in converse trainers you're heading for a world of pain.

Get some Asics Gels if you aint flush for cash, more than good enough.

If you really enjoy, get yourself down to a proper running shop and get some fitted for you.

You kness, shin and ankles will thank you for it.

yea go to a real shoestore with personel that have education on how to pick a good shoe for you. They should have a treadmill and record when you run to see what kind of shoe you need. Asics is a good brand yes but it doesnt have to be expensive=good, you need whats good for your particular feet.

chuck taylor converse are great for deadlifts and squatting...sucky for running. no arch support.

you don't have to break the bank on running shoes either. just get something designed for running that fits nice.
