Do you shrink in height by lifting weights?

I know absolutely nothing about weightlifting or bodybuilding, so before I try anything out I have a few questions. My first questions have to deal with height problems. I've heard that if you lift weights for several years, you might shrink. I just want to be for sure before I lift weights or anything like that. So I guess my question is, do you shrink in height by lifting weights? If so, which weightlifting exercises keep you from shrinking? And which exercises should I avoid in order to stay the same height? Any information you can give me will be helpful, thank you!

GOOD LORD NO! How do so many people get fed so much BS when it comes to weight training? Whoever told you that really deserves to be bopped on the head for stupidity.
 
you may not shrink, but if you aren't done growing yet, it's possible to damage your growth plates and stunt your growth ...
