Do you got to burn all of the calories you take in?

Technically, no. You can factor in your BMR (for me 3100) and I eat 1800 calories a day. which means I have a daily deficit of 1300 calories just by watching my caloric intake. BUT I do strive to burn 1000-1500 calories a day at the gym. The bigger the deficit the bigger the loss 1 lb. of fat is 3500 callories!
