In moderation, cheese isn't better or worse than any other food. There are no such things as 'diet' foods in my opinion.
I love cheese. And I have cheese in one of my dishes almost every day. Am still losing weight nicely and steadily.
Losing weight should never be about banning anything from your diet if you enjoy it. It will make you crave the forbidden foods just that much more.
Just find a way to work what you like, in this case cheese, into your daily diet and calorie allowance (if you count calories, that is).
Apart from all that, cheese is pretty healthy, in moderation.
