Do I need Glutamine

Ive been lifting/bulking for about 3 months now. So far Ive gained 20ibs most probably water weight due to taking creatine mono

Im currently supplementing my diet with protein drinks, creatine and multivitamins.

Ive read that it may be benficial for muscle gain if I regulary take "Glutamine". Ive read up on it and im noty sure wether it would be worth it.

Any comments or advice from more experienced lifters??

short answer: no

long answer: all the research I've seen showed glutamine supplementation only benefited AIDS, Cancer and severe burn patients in hospitals.
For the average athlete, it has the same effect as placebo.

I wouldn't knock on a BCAA supp that includes some glutamine, but I wouldn't waste money on pure l-glutamine powder/caps.

incidentally, cottage cheese has a nice amount of glutamine, so if you want to try to up your levels, that's an excellent, cheap way to do it, while getting more protein at the same time.

Agree with malkore. I've never actually seen any science suggesting that it works for healthy athletes.. but I see a lot of people pushing it as one of the supps "up there" with creatine, which is really weird.

I had always heard it was so great for recovery and maybe it is, but I tried it for a while and saw no improvements in recovery time at all, so it was a waste of money. Good to know about cottage cheese, I was unaware that it had a good amount of glutamine in it.

Thanks for the replys, appreciate it :action8:
