Distance or Time??

I'm new here so to start off, Hi to everyone!! I've just recently started jogging. I've never been a fan of running, all through jr. high and high school i despised it. Anyway is it better to go out and run a set distance or set time. I've tried both in the past week, i just want to know which is better for you.

Thanks.

Easier to just go for time for now. Make sire you run for 30-45 minutes. Distance is not important as long as you are measuring your HR and staying on target...

That-said: Sometimes it is easier to measure your progress by keeping track of your distance. And, many people get more of a sense-of-accomplishment when they think in terms of miles, instead of minutes.

Rip has got to be the best at advice on these forums, and I would like to just extend from what was said there. If you want to run for time, then run at least 20 minutes; that is about the time when running becomes aerobic rather than anaerobic. I would personally run for about 30 minutes and try to go farther each time. Once you get the hang of running then you can set distances.
