I recently started the cohens diet and as some of you may know this but I am using a friends plan and following that. I have actually not paid for the plan.I have read so many posts in the last few days that I came across in this forum and it seems that you are frowned upon because you havnt paid and alot of you think that I am free loading and bludging off you guys ie chelsea OMG the way she went off at Dreamer was so nasty. I thought the whole point of this forum is to support each other that are on the program..does it really matter if I am following a friends and have not paid myself (and please dont give me the but its all been planned for her height/weight/blood etc .the ammount of food I am eating of course I will lose weight any dietician/doctor will confirm that)... bottom line is I am doing something about my weight problem and that should be congratulated...
Finding the support group ,maybe not that supportive afterall.

Why point it out?

OK then - from what you are saying - I should not worry about my overweight, diabetic, recently triple bypassed father in law and should support him in following MY Cohen's plan? Extreme comparison - maybe;)

I think not! I am petrified that he will stop eating all sugar and try and eat the amounts on my plan and will keel over! (I don't think that he will do it but he is threatening too!) Then that is something else that wil be my fault!

Just wondering - Why would you come to the forum and announce that you are using someone elses plan??? Is it just for a stir? You could have easily just joined in, posted as everyone else does and not mentioned it and no one would have known that you hadn't paid for your own plan.

Not really worried that you are using someone else's plan - that is up to you -but why go and point it out?

Good Luck with it!

Well -

I have raised my children to be honest, as I was raised myself.

Fare evasion is fare evasion, no matter how you want to dress it up.

And - why tell us? You want us - who have worked / saved up / shown some respect for Dr Cohen and the clinics, but MOST IMPORTANTLY shown some respect for ourselves, to exonerate you, and that will make it alright?

By using someone else's plan you may as well borrow a diet book from the library - or maybe nick it from the stand outside the bookstore on the pavement - and pretend that the Zodiak Diet is just wonderful and see! it was just 'made for you'.

Sure, I'm a nasty person. It's in the DNA. But I'm an honest nasty person and as far as this program is concerned, why bother if you're not really committed to it - and comittment, in my book, means paying for your own ticket.

If you go throug life expecting everyone else to do the work - the Government, the Hospital, your family, society at large, and when something like this comes along, 'well, why should I pay - all the programs are the same anyway, it's really just a sham, so may as well use Dora's program and she's put all the weight back on, anyway, but when I'm on a diet everybody takes a bit of notice of me and really it doesn't matter and I am certainly not going to pay for it because it isn't going to work anyway!'

Because you don't think it's worth paying for you have just insulted all of us who do and who did, the clinics and their staff, Dr Cohen and evryone else involved with the program.

So good luck with that. Hope you enjoyed being a stirrer, and you didn't even have to pay for that twenty seconds of entertainment, either!

There is no such thing as a free lunch. We get what we pay for in life. We get out of life what we put in to it. etc

If you don't value yourself, no one else will.

Really, nasty, tell-it-like-it-is Kristine

Who did go out to work to earn the money and very happily paid for the expertise which produced such a successful result for me.

Ok from the gist of the conversation I'm gathering that someone is upset because you feel that someone else is 'cheating' by not going through the proper channels. Ok, good.

1 point for the upset people:

You know it's not tailored to her, you know she's cheating herself...that's her decison and frankly her problem. So don't waste your breath. :)

1 point for the so called 'cheaters':

Who cares about what other people think, if you're content with your decison then let everyone else say what they want to say. :)

Hi there

I think the thing to remember is that we are using the written word as our means of communication - and you can put emotion into the words and get a different vibe every time you read it.

Hayleyheyhey - maybe you are mistaking concern for anger. If you read Yummymummy's diary there have been people who showed concern but overall they are congratulating her on a job well done.

This is obviously a sore point on both sides of the fence - I don't think it is necessary to escalate it into a catfight - or try and provoke one. We are here to support people with losing weight - hayleyheyhey wants to do it like that then that is her choice.

What I am trying to say is if you have a real beef with someone and want to have a catfight - consider using personal messages as this kind of negativity is not helpful in a support forum. Hayleyheyhey - were you trying to provoke Chelsea (this is how I read it when you call her out by name) and if so Chelsea you fell for it hook line and sinker.

Maybe we all need to get off our high horses and think about the stress levels - stress is no good for weightloss!!!!!

ooops

oh my! what have I started, touchy touchy chelsea girl (chill girl, at the end of the day it's just a diet)
As per my original post, you are frowned upon and not supported if you havnt paid for the plan, that was my point, so I rest my case!
Thanks all for your feedback, maybe it was best to pretend I paid for it and joined in the forum but I thought I would be honest...yep, it really gets ya places.
Oh well, happy to continue losing weight on my low carb high protein diet and when I do pile it all back on I will come to you chelsea and beg for the queens all mighty forgiveness..NOT!

Hey there hayleyheyhey

Welcome to the forum

and congrats on your decision to get healthy... I know it can be expensive but have you thought about what your going to do when you hit refeed time.

I hope you do well, and hope that the programme works for you.

Good luck and talk to u later.
Dianne

Hi Dianne,
Thank you for your message.
I will cross the re-feed bridge when I get to it.
I have started the program on the same weight as what you were and and OH MY GOLLY GOSH what a great weight loss for you... that is fantastic and very inspiring!
How long has that taken you?

Hayleyheyhey

You could join the internet plan it is cheaper US$228 gives you three months of "support" and the refeed if you get to your goal weight and US$179 for 3 months continuation. Its a cheaper program, but with lower support levels think of it as "basic edition cohen diet". Thus the cheapest option would be to lose weight with another diet ( or someone else' plan  ) , get to within 3 months of being at the goal weight and then join the internet plan for US$228 and complete it properly.

For me I didnt mind paying for the program I also have a good income so it not such a big issue, but I hated the idea of paying for bad email support by so called consultants that I believe just had a standard script of questions and answers (eg like the standard of indian offshore support centers), if my question didnt fit the script I got a stock answer even if it didnt match the question.

I dont believe that the few grams of differences between the diet plans of people around the same height and sex is enough to make a real difference to overall to our weight loss or not. Naturally I accept many (including Dr Cohen all Cohen clinics) would disagree with me on this point. I also wouldn't agree that it is dangerous as such to follow another's plan if they are around the same height and weight as you. What would be dangerous would be if you have a medical condition, known or unknown (kidney problem, diabettes etc) and started Cohen diet without even a basic proper medical review which Dr Cohen does with the results of your first blood test. Cohen diet is after all "gentle starvation", if you followed Cohen diet forever you would die, we would simply starve to death, mind you there would be 2~3 months of being awake 24*7 fixated with thoughts about food and eating when your body reached "crisis" point!

One step after another whatever you decide, there is not one true correct path. My opinion is that you will easily save US$228 during the course of the program because you are not eating takeouts, restaurants and prepared food from the supermarkets, so get the credit card out, and pay even if you pay by the month at 16% interest! Paying the credit card down each month interest and cost will be less than what you would have spent on "easy food".

Hey there hayleyheyhey

Thanks for the lovely words..

It has taken me 7 months all up 2 months is the 12 kilo's I lost before cohens and then the other 5 is on cohens and have lost 25.6.

I have been deviating alot so I would have been finished by now if I hadn't, but with xmas and all the other things that popped up I became weak. In saying that i'm fully back on track and plan on been finished in 8 weeks then i have refeed. So what i'm trying to say is that I better be finished for easter lol
good luck
Di
