Hey everyone!! I am new to the site.
I am a 26 year old female who has struggled with my weight all my life. I recently was scheduled to have the Laprascopic gastric bypass on 3/7/05 but backed out of having the surgery 3 days before my surgery date. I had went through all the process with insurance, pre-op testing, Dr's appointments and everything. I am a very spiritual person and something just kept telling me not to do it. The whole time I was going through the process, I spent so much time trying to convince family and friends that this was really something that I wanted to do that I really was scared to death deep down inside. One of the requirements to have the surgery was to have a BMI of 40 or be 100lbs or more overweight...well I was right at the requirement. I am 5'4 and then weighed 240lbs size 14-16.. I was exactly 100lbs overweight. So alot of people already were saying "You don't need to have this surgery...you are not that big" So that was another burden I was carrying. So I just decided to do this weight loss thing on my own. It's been about 2 1/2 months since then and I have lost 21 lbs. At first I thought that everything I have been doing was not working but recently my co-workers and friends are starting to notice after the first 20lbs gone so that makes me even more determined to keep going. I am sort of on my first plateau because I haven't lost anything in a couple weeks so I know I need to chance my workout routine a little and get a little more strict on myself. I am still wearing the same size which is weird but hopefully that will change soon. My short term goal is to get below 200lbs...then my ultimate goal is to be 150lbs. I am very top heavy so I might still do the surgery thing but for a breast reduction. Any support and suggestions will help!!! I am looking forward to becoming a part of the "Forum Family"!!!!!

1. Short Term Goal- 199lbs
Long Term Goal- 150lbs or Size 9-10
2. I want to meet my goals at least by Fall/Winter 2005
3.I will accomplish my goals by working out 3-4 times a week, strength training 2 times a week, and not dieting but making healthly food choices and portion control
4. I really like getting ideas and support from people who have actually accomplished thier goals. It keeps me motivated and gives me ideas to help me. This might sound wierd but looking at before and after photos everyday REALLY keeps me motivated. I am a visual person actually seeing someone's success really helps me.
5. I think my goals are pretty realistic. I like making short term goals because I feel like it won't take as long. If you put your mind to anything..it can become a reality.
6.I have already started as of March 2005

Great goals! Way to be realistic! You are already on your way to a long road of success and happiness!
