Weight-Loss

Does anyone know anything about slow digestion?

A couple of years ago, I lost some weight and i remember how hard it was particularly because for some reason, my digestive system just slows right down.

I am currently trying to lose some more weight and the same thing is happening again.

I know that this is to be expected when you change your diet, but surely it can't take eight months to begin to regulate (which is how long it took me to lose the wieght from before), I have always been pretty active and now i have been eating healthy, for two months and the same thing is happening again.

I have been careful to include Fibre and Iodine rich foods to my diet and for the past three weeks, i have been taking fibre capsules and drinking psyllium drinks, but it doesn't make a difference.
I got blood tested early last year, and they said there's nothing wrong...

Any ideas what could be wrong or ideas on how to correct it?

I think maybe you're thinking of the metabolism that tends to slow down before it speeds up (ie if you've been taking in far too few calories for a long time and then switch to what would normally be considered a normal amount). In which case, no amount of fibre will speed up your metabolism. Try eating foods that are high in proteins, which will go towards building muscle if you're exercising, which in turn kicks your metabolism up a notch.

Unless I completely misunderstood your question, in which case, feel free to ignore me, because its 4am ;)

how much water are you drinking daily? should be about 60 ounces or so depending on your weight.

fruit is natures 'go' medicine. All those jokes about prune juice are around for a reason! lol

But seriously, try eating some really juicy fruit, or better yet, fruit juice!

I drink heaps of water (about 2 litres), and eat heaps of fruit...that's the weird thing, when i start eating fruit, veg and wholemeal bread, i stop!

Someone told me that fibre only works in your body if it is lubricated by water, and i told him i drink heaps of water, he said he doesn't know then.

I love my water, i feel awful if i don't drink it, especially now that it's summer in Australia and pretty hot!

When I had my blood tested, they said that my thyroid was " a bit" underactive, and when i asked how to fix it, they said to eat iodine rich food, like cheddar cheese and kiwi fruit...
it's annoying me:(
