Weight-Loss Dieting for a Picky Eater

I am the world's most picky eater...I eat like I am still a child, really. Plain burgers, chicken, lots of potatoes, cheese, and other starches. I hate vegetables, and seafood is a no-go in my family due to allergies. All the diets I have seen include things I know I won't eat. I know I will have to force myself to eat a salad once in a while, but when it comes to cooked vegetables I just can't choke them down. It's a texture thing more than anything.

So, does anyone know of a good diet plan that may be suitable for me to try? I have tried to stick with grilled chicken for most meals, but it gets boring after a while. I love seasonings and spices, so any new variations of boring grilled chicken would be great!

I just started on this site today, and already I can tell there are vast resources to take advantage of. I am very excited!

AHave you tried "hidden vegetable" meals? (Like http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1508645/pasta-with-tomato-and-hidden-veg-sauce ) I sometimes put onion through my food processor (for different reasons- chopping onions is horrible) and I find when I do it blends into the texture of whatever else I'm making. Also, how have you cooked vegetables? (I can understand hating boiled vegetables, but there's also roasting, sauteeing, steaming, probably others...) Have you tried a compromise between raw and cooked- stir fries? Are there any vegetables you haven't tried?

And why stick with grilled chicken? Again, roasting (in a marinade, most of which you don't eat) or frying (in a small amount of oil or an oil spray) bring different flavours and therefore more variety/ interest. You also don't need to stick with chicken.

Ultimately it's all calories in/ out, but I find I'd struggle if I didn't have a very vegetable rich diet (I don't envy you at all as a picky eater), as that's how I eat enough to stay satisfied but still eat a calorie restricted diet.

I love smoothies. You can add all kinds of fruit, yogurt, whey powder for protein and yes even some veggies. They are fast and really filling. Just make them at home yourself and stay away from the pre-packaged diet "shakes"

I love the idea of smoothies! I have done them before, and I don't know why I stopped. It's just one of those things I never think about when I am at the store, I guess :blush5:

Finally, someone after my own heart! I am the pickiest eater in the world - I won't eat any seafood, or pasta, there are only a few veges I will eat, only certain cereals, there's more but I don't have time to list it all (The list of what I will eat is soo much shorter)

Mine too! I love carbs and cheese...that's pretty much what I live on. Tacos, cheese fries, pizza, mac and cheese. I love it all! I am just glad Lean Cuisine makes awesome pepperoni pizza and mac and cheese otherwise I would be totally screwed!
