Diet Help??

Ok, I come from a persian family, and we have persian traditional food for dinner practically every night. I am always told that the food we eat is very nutritional, and it does look nutritional, because they are made using natural ingredients and healthy meats. However, I was also told from a friend that these foods are very bad for you as well. If anyone has a persian background and knows what i am talking about, could u please give me some insight as to if these foods are good or bad for me? For those that arent persian or dont really know what i am talking about, one dinner that we usually have is beef mixed with spinach, lentils, celery, and some herbs with lots of jasmin rice. (Most persian meals come with lots of rice to tell u the truth).

PS, my diet otherwise is very healthy.

Breakfast: Strawberries and cheerios with lactaid milk
Lunch: Usually persian dinner leftovers from night b4
Dinner: Usually a persian dish such as the one i described above, if not, then spaghetti with meat sauce.

If the beef is lean, 93% or better and the rice is brown than its ok IMO. However strawberries and cheerios is not healthy.

Oatmeal/eggs is superior.

My bad, I was wayyyy to general with this diet...

Breakfast: Nothing else to add, except some days I have hardboiled eggs instead of cheerios, but usually cheerios and milk.
Lunch: Besides the dinner leftovers I have two clementines, sometimes a nutrigrain bar, and either a banana or a cup of watermelon.
Dinner: Besides the dish, I have low/nonfat plain yogurt, and if the dish didnt already have lots of greens in it, then i would have a side of mixed greens salad with some light honey mustard salad dressing on it.

Ok, so I should probably switch from cheerios/strawberries to oatmeal and eggs..... wats the reason bhind it?

PS... just to add, I am 15, 5 foot 11, 160 lbs, and not takin medication/no health problems, pretty active (gym 2-3 times a week, and basketball/soccer with friends on off days)

Ok lets not get to fussy about what people can eat..

essentially you want to have:

- fruit
- vegetables
- wholemeal
- complex carbs such as pasta
- foods in protein
etc

You want to limit the amount of

-saturated fats
-sodium
etc
