Diet & Exercise log...

I want to lose 10 pounds to start.. and go from there. Ideally I'd love to weigh about 140. I'm around 160 now and I'm 5'8.. I need to do it as healthy as possible while incorporating exercise so that I can see some results. Patience is a virtue I guess; something I do not have much of!!

So, to start with today:

06-11-06

B: special k with skim milk, tea
L: turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with lettuce, tomato and light mayo
D: turkey stir fry (lots of veggies!!), whole wheat roll with light margarine

Snacks: clementine, apple, special k bar, plum, trail mix (very little), 1 lf yogurt, fun size dairy milk (89 cal bar - oops).

Workout:
I didn't have much time for the gym tonight but I did manage 30 mins of hard cardio plus some stretching and ab work.

I'm wondering if im overeating.. that really concerns me.
Any comments are welcome!!

^ thanks I appreciate it :)

I think it depends on your quantities. I went to a calorie calculator and figured out what I needed calorie wise and dropped 500 calories. There are several websites that do this. Are you doing any weight training? That will really help you burn the extra and get leaner.

^ I do a bit of weight training but probably not as much as I should.

Lots of water throughout the day.

No gym today.. im pretty run down at the moment. Very tired.

I really want to get under 160. I haven't been there for months.
In June'ish I was 168-170.. so I guess I have made some progress.

Last month I had a few days where I was hovering around 159, but nothing that stuck.

I know I can do this if I just stick to it and keep reminding myself how good I will feel once I accomplish some goals.

I go home to Canada (I'm living in the UK temporarily right now) for Christmas and i'd love to see my family and friends weighing in the low 150s.. that would be fabulous. A lot to ask im sure, but maybe I can get there.

Here's hoping!!!

It's hard sometimes I know =[
But you can do it.
That's one of the reasons that I spend so much time in these forums. sometime you just wanna give up, and binge. But in the end you know you're gonna feel like crap all over again.
Just stick with it. I'm also trying to find activities to do when i feel like binging. :D

This diet is awfull!!!
Your not eatting anywhere near enough to stay healthy.

You may loose weight, but its a very unhealthy way of doing it.

How much water are you drinking?
How many cals is this per day? (use FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal to work it out)

Where are your healthy fats?

Drop the special K in the bin, get some bran flakes, or oats.

Work out how many cals you need per day here.

What sort of exercise are you doing?

Read up on 'GI'.

R. Lewis I know I am not perfect, but I am trying here.

I've been kind of put off by your message. I don't know if you were trying to use constructive criticism- but anyways.. I do appreciate your opinion.

The last few days have been hard.

I'm determined to make at least 155 by xmas.

When possible, try opting for whole natural foods... anything packaged pretty much has a better natural alternative. I'd say most here spread their calories out over 5-6 meals so that's something you might want to try too.

Yeah, I don't just have two meals/day or something.. I do spread it out.

I'm working on eating less sugar and less processed foods.

It all takes time I guess.

the whole processed food is a big thing for me too.
Seriously, look at my diet. I eat a lot of marie calanders dinners, and a lot of frusion smoothies.
It gets quite ex*****ive.
Try cooking rice in chicken broth, and having some boiled or baked chicken with it...and idea i got from stingo, and it is delish!!:D

Thank ya - but try adding some blanched veggies too. I like a mix of them - like cauliflower and broccoli florets with baby carrots. Put them in boiling water for about 5 minutes or so and they're ready.

Thanks for the ideas you guys!!
I think it's difficult because I've been eating so many processed foods for so long (like Lean Cuisine dinners and cereal bars)- espec' when I was restricting... I always looked for the lowest cal (and most conveinent) foods.. which were always mainly processed.

Yup it's easy to get caught up in that habit... Yes, your body's getting some kind of nutrition, but it's nowhere near as efficient nor as optimal as it could be. Also too, healthy eating doesn't have to mean flavorless - it's just the palate is so used to having processed/fatty foods that anything else it has will taste weird. But, given time you can retrain the palate to be responsive to healthier foods so you can enjoy them more. Like Christi said - the boiled chicken/brown rice in nonfat chicken broth/blanched veggies is a very nice fresh healthy meal that (if you know how to boil water) is easy to make. I'd not be surprised that a number of people who've started eating healthy have also started cooking for themselves for the majority of time. So contrary to popular opinion you might find yourself enjoying natural food more and getting into it more than when you were having processed foods. A general rule of thumb - if it comes in a bag or a box chances are it's processed, so find a natural alternative - and - if you can't point to a piece of food and identify it right off the bat then chances are you should choose something else. (Think looking at a chicken leg vs a chicken mcnugget).

Bottom line is, think of it as beginning a new adventure - the world will open up with a whole lot of new tastes and textures - so much so you'll wonder why you didn't try it sooner. And as always, have some fun along the way.

I've always thought i've been a pretty decent eater (minus all of the ED years).. and I didn't actually consider that I was doing THAT bad until I was told my eating was ****e.. I mean, it's not like I eat chocolate all day long or pizza or tons of pasta.. etc, you know? I try to choose healthy options.

But, regardless... I will get to my goal- I am more than determined right now. I've had a rough few days (weekends are always hard I don't know how to fix that!!!)... so today starts anew.

wt: unsure due to pms'ing *l*

The flip side of the coin is to allow yourself that cheat now and again and don't worry about the calories. More good days than bad days is what you're going for here.

^ yes very true. Thanks for really giving me good advice stingo!
