Diet causing acid reflux/GERD?

Anyone have any experience with a sudden lifestyle change, such as reduced calories and quality food + exercise, experience the onset of acid reflux/GERD? I've been struggling with this for several weeks now and I'm wondering if this is a common thing and, more importantly, when will it subside?
 
I suggest you consult the doctor first.
Refrain from consuming acidic food items, including pizza, coffee, and soft drinks because these can aggravate the production of gastric acids. It is helpful to include fruits and vegetable in daily meals that help in achieving better digestion.
