Hows it going everybody!. First and foremost I would like to thank everyone for the great information they contribute to this forum. I am new to posting but I have been coming here for some time now as a motivational tool. In April of this year I decided to do a life change. After seeing my sister lose over 45kg(100lbs) in a little over a year. She went from a size 24 to a size 7 and she can wear some size 5 clothing..So I told my self, if she can do it, I can do it. When I got married I weighed 75-77kg (165lbs-170lbs) and in 12 years I ballooned to 123kg (272lbs.) I am 34 years old now and not getting any younger..So I started eating right and watching my calories, I then joined a gym like 2 months ago and so far I have lost about 16kg!(35lbs!)..Now I havent really been paying attention too much on the nutritional values of what I eat until recently, Ive only kept up with the calories. So now Im here and Ive noticed my body changing, arms getting more muscular etc etc. I do weight training 3 days a week and cardio 6 days a week.. now heres my question. Due to my busy schedule its hard for me not to eat before I go to bed.. I go to bed everyday around 9:30-10:00pm and I eat dinner at 8pm.. how detrimental is this for my diet and journey, and what kind of negative effects am I creating by doing this?.. I am fine tuning my diet right now as I have read that weight training and exercise requires a well balanced nutritional diet. Now I am eating 4-6 times a day and staying away from my favourite desserts and pop, and I am eating good foods low in fat and with good nutritional values (protein, carbs, etc). My thing is, what if I eat an hour before I go to bed?..Thanks in advance..

There's nothing wrong with eating before you go to bed and you're not creating any negative effects.

The whole "don't eat before bedtime" or "don't eat after X time" thing is one of those diet tips that is meant to keep people from mindless snacking at night - it gives them a "rule" to follow. But it's a "rule" has nothing to do with nutrition or healthy - just portion control.

If eating at 8 p.m. is what works for you, if you're eating balanced meals, and if you're keeping within your calorie range, then you should be able to eat whenever you want.
