Hi

Hello there

Shangrila here, yeah bread can get me to, and big time!

White bread tends to get me the most. I think it's because it tends to be made up of refined carbs (stripped down starchy-sugary non-nutritious rubbish) which gives you that intial energy boost and mmmm-factor then not to long after the blood sugar plumments leading to that craving-for-more feeling. Wholemeal bread is better for you (complex carbs - sturdy, helpful and energy-rich lovelies) and the highs and lows are far less extreme so blood sugar is less affected. Rye bread is good but can be an aquired tatse.

I find a mix of rye and wholemeal tastes really nice, feels substantial and for me has the least affect on blood sugar levels.

I go through periods of having no bread for a few weeks then I mabey have a roll here, a roll there. Whilst I do occaisionally have bread-monster moments and I make a point of never beating myself up about it, in the main I
er on the side of bread not being part of my regular diet.

Flat bread may be worth giving a go. Mmm factor there but doesn't send me bananas *lol*.

Good luck

since i last posted i have cut back on bread at least for now. i dont trust myself the craveings are too great at the moment, i do put some croutons on my salad but thats about it, maybe in a week or so ill try again and see how i feel.
