Did you need to resize rings?

How many people here have lost so much weight that they needed to have their rings resized? My partner and I like to be different, so she proposed to me with a beautiful titanium ring. In the line of work that I was doing -- before I lost my job a few weeks ago :( -- the titanium was perfect because it's ultralightweight and durable. It's starting to get loose on my finger, which sucks because I don't believe they can resize titanium. Regardless, how many people on here have had to have engagement rings, wedding rings or otherwise resized?

I have a white gold claddagh ring that was given to me by my best friend about a month before he was killed.. it's inscribed with the phrase Slainte - which is an Gaelic expression for Good health (or to Life)

The ring has not left my hand.. but it has changed fingers frequently - now th eonly finger it fits on is the index finer of my right hand... it's gonna need to be resized and reinscibed but I can't bring myself to do it..

this makes me happy... my class ring has gotten too small since i put on a bunch of weight but now if will be able to wear it properly again soon!

There are some inserts that clip on so as to make the inside diameter a bit smaller but doesn't change the ring. I'm thinking of doing this with mine now.

but then it hides the inscription... and my reason for not wanting to have it resized is i don't want to lose the original inscciption...

I'll have it done eventually... and I'm getting used to it on my index finger -when i need to move it to my thumb - then I will reevaluate..

Another option is to have two little balls of gold soldered on the inside where the inscription isn't. When I got my wife's engagement ring made I designed it myself and had it made from a wax mold. The size was off and the design was such that the only way to make it smaller would be to cut through the inscription. The jeweler suggested the sizing balls on either side of the inscription, and she's been wearing it like that ever since. It seems like it'd be uncomfortable, but she says that it isn't.

I haven't had to resize yet but with the little bit of weight loss I've had I can now get my wedding band on. For a while I couldn't stand to put it on because it was so tight. My engagment ring is a size 4 and fits fine but the band is a size 3 and didn't. I can only stand it for a couple hours but with a little more weight loss I think it will be okay. I haven't any idea what size I'll wear when I get to my goal weight.

And you are correct, titanium bands cannot be resized. The good thing is they are too horrible expensive..BUT..a new one doesn't have that same sentimental value.

You can't actually size titanium so you would have to either do the arthritic beads (those little balls) or see if you could reorder the ring to size. At least you couldn't size it the last time I worked for a jeweler, which was four years ago :)

My rings were cast in a 10 1/2 and the sizing limitation is two sizes down...my finger is now an 8 so I'm not sure how I am going to handle it...but I've been 'single' for the past 6-8 mos or so.
