Developing Lean Mass?

Okay im 17 and 5"9 160lbs. Im currently working out 3-4 times weekly and i would like to gain a bit of muscle mass but at the same time i would like to increases my definition. I'm currently not taking any supplements but have been considering BSN NO Xplode with some whey protein or other protein product. What would be my best bet to increase my lean mass?

im no expert but i wouldnt take any NO xplode crap .. just whey protein as a PWO thing and some creatine

Yea i was kinda leaning more towards just using some whey protein. I was also told to avoid creatine if was trying to develope lean mass or definition. Thanks for your advice tho, anyone else have some thoughts? Thaanks

Before even considering supps, be sure you diet is in check. You can get lean without supplements. Eat good proteins, complex carbs and good fats. Drink lots of water. Eat at least five or more smaller meals a day. You can do a search on this site and get good info on how to eat. But you really don't have to spend money on supps to get lean, proper diet will do it for you. Good luck with your goals.

There is no reason to avoid creatine when leaning out.
also if you want to add lean mass, you can't expect to lean out at the same time. the two require opposing diet strategies.

not everyone experiences water retention on creatine, in fact most don't.
what they do experience is better lean mass gains due to more effective workouts.
