DECEPTION key to weight loss?

Since I've hit a plateau, I've been using this sight for ideas to get past it.

what I've learned is that our bodies adjust to the lower caloric intake and increased exercise by surviving on fewer calories.

So if that is the case, don't we have to fake our bodies out by making them believe we really are not on a diet?

It seems to me that when a platueau is reached, the strategy to use is to increase calories gradually to maintain your weight, and then when your body is convinced you're not going to starve, to return to your previous dieting mode...until you plateau again.

Any comments are welcome!!

sounds like it would work to me!

My Doctor said something similar yesterday. She was a bit concerned about my 1K calorie diet. She said that my body could decide it isn't getting enough energy and start conserving every calorie it can. She said upping your intake a couple hundred calories can make your body speed up the metabolism a bit.

Another thing that may help is change the routine of exercise. if you run try doing swimming, etc etc.

Ya, changind your excercises or foods you eat are enought to restart your weight loss. You boody like sot get into groves so it doesnt work too hard. If you change thins, even slightly, it keeps your body adapting.

AHHH... That would explain why My weight has been constant since I stopped dieting. So you are saying that if I go back on a diet now, My body will not think it is starving since I have increased my caloric intake over the last few months.

I should start losing weight again.

GENIUS!!!!!:)

If you diet for say 6 days on 1000 and then on the 7th have say 2000 you can temporarily kick your metabolism up a gear so that for the next 6 days the 1000cal diet would actually help you lose weight.
So I;ve been told

Calorie cycling is a popular diet method for those who have hit a plateau. I have done calorie cycling with a number of clients. It can be a good metabolism booster as well. There is no one way to do it though. Each person has different needs for their own calorie cycling.

Sounds like the free day once a week. Would that be like Calorie cycling?

My free day is Sunday. Because of church. I love after Church dinner.

I've often tried to figure out how to get off a plateau and never even thought of calorie cycling. That's the perfect idea!

I lost about 30 lbs and hit a plateau but instead of fixing it, I gave up and then started to gain weight. This is some good information.
