Day By Day - How Brandy Got Her Groove Back - Journal

Well, tomorrow is it... Day 1 - another, Day 1. How many Day 1s have there been? Many. Tomorrow is the last Day 1.

My name is Brandy. I've been fat, not just overweight, my entire life. I was fat in elementary school. I was fat in junior high school. I weighed 250 pounds my senior year. By the time I was 23, I was near 300 pounds.

In 2004 I decided I was sick of being fat, I wanted to lose weight. I started a diet. I lost about 70 pounds. I got down to around 220 pounds and felt a whole lot better about myself. I stayed at 220 pounds for about 2 years.

Now it's August, 2006. I'm around 253-255 pounds. I will weigh in the morning and post for sure my exact start weight. One thing I know for sure, it will be the last time I weigh that number. I'm sick of being fat. I'm sick of WISHING I could lose weight. It's time to start DOING something about it. Tomorrow is Day 1.

Welcome to your diary!!! Good luck and we'll be rooting for you.

Day ONE

Today is day one. I weighed in at 255 pounds

Each day I will post my weight and I will post how the previous day went. I'm going to start this entry with some goal setting...

GOALS
1) Get back to all time low weight of 217 pounds
2) GET BELOW 200 POUNDS
3) Get into a size 14 (have never worn a 14)
4) Lose 100 pounds
5) Ultimate goal of being a size 8 - 20% or less BF

Today is Friday, August 4th, 2006. The first day of the rest of my life. I've been here before... I've said I would lose weight... half-heartedly. But today is different. I went to bed last night and woke up this morning with a conviction for reaching my goals this time.

those are good goals to have... what's your plan on achieving those goals?

Long as you are seeing this as a lifestyle change and not a diet, you will get to where you want to be...

We're rootin' for ya brandy you will do great

I have a diet plan, and I WILL stick to it. And I WILL exercise...

I plan on completing 200 minutes of cardio per week and 3x strength training.
My sessions with the trainer are once per week - I'd really like to do two a week because she pushes me so hard, but that's not $$ feasable right now.

So the other two days a week I will just use the knowledge she's given me and do my own training session.

My plan is to ALWAYS have a plan. *Failing to plan is planning to fail!*

I'm at work right now, but this morning I got up and prepared my food for the day... after work I'm heading straight to the Y.

Thank you guys again for checking in on me! :hugs:

Hey!

Good on you.. your journal reminded me of myself... i was always the fat kid... now 23 and yes indeed nearly 300 pounds.. good luck with everything!! be sure to keep us posted..i like your attitude... this is it!!!

Today is Day Two. I weighed in at 249.5 pounds. That's down 5.5 pounds the first day. I'm so glad I got to see the "5" disappear from scale after the "2". I am now out of the 250s. Next goal is to get out of the 240s.

Yesterday was great! I ate when I was hungry and stopped when I was satiated. I got my haircut! I thought it was time for a change :)

Here's my scale photo for today.

I will check in later!

Today is Day FOUR

Well, today is day four, and I weighed 249.5 this morning )

yesterday was a tough day, we were in the car from 8 am to 11 p.m. driving to Buffalo to look for an apartment near campus for Jillian. We finally found one, but I know riding in the car all day caused me to hold water...
I did well though. I packed my food in the mini-cooler and had drinks as well.

I'm at work now and I have to work job #2 tonight... Will try to fit a trip to the Y in.

Saturday Mike and I went Geocaching and it took us down a little walking trail so I did get some walking in on Saturday.

Will check in later!

Sounds as if your are VERY determined! I went to UB also! I lived on Minnesota Ave! I loved it there, but be careful ...some of those landlords are shifty characters!
Just my 2 cents as far as weighing in everyday (mind you this comes from someone with a scale phobia ;) ) Maybe try to only weigh once a week. Your weight varies so much from day to day and even from AM to PM. So don't be so hard on yourself....many people never even step on a scale and just go by how their clothes fit. I just don't want to see you get discouraged when you are so focused! I heard a trainer on TV (think it was that Green guy Oprah works out with) recommending not even weighing yourself for the 1st 2 months after you start dieting and exercising! Well, just a thought .......know we are here supporting you!

Hi Brandy,
It sounds like you have a great attitude and determination!!

You and I started at about the same weight, I was 257 and woke up and said, "This Is Going to be GONE!" And it will. One day at a time :D

I weigh every day too, but I don't let the daily fluctuations bother me. I only "record" my weight on my calendar once a week though, every Saturday.

Good luck on your journey :)

Hi M2M! Thank you so much :) You are doing SOO well! You're now 214! That's amazing!

I live in a small town about 13 miles outside of Utica. Probably about 2 hours from Watertown. I used to live in Oswego though...did my freshman year of college there! Loved the lake ....hated the snow! Did you go to Harborfest? I have never been, but it does look like fun. I have an ex boyfriend who lives up there...he teaches in Fulton. I always say if I get my pre baby figure back I'll go....I don't want to run into him when I'm fat. Pride is a killer!!!! LOL! Alot of the army guys also used to travel down from Watertown to party with us college kids. Is Jillian going to UB or Buff state?

spelin: She's going to Buffalo State first... then she'll end up at BU for law school.
Never been to Harborfest - I've only lived here two years though. But I love it here :) Even with the snow. In fact, with the temps we've had the past few weeks (mid 90s) I was WISHING for snow! But I know after 6 straight months of snow I'll wish it were summer again LOL

Well, today is Day FIVE

I'm down another 2 pounds - 247 this morning. Total loss to date: 8.5 pounds in 5 days Woo hoo!

Wow kudos on the weight loss! You are doing incredible!
Upstate is beautiful! Although I grew up around here.... I have lived all over the country and I do think that upstate NY is one of the most beautiful places I have lived. The adirondacks alone are breathtaking! The winters are beautiful until January......then I am ready for summer again LOL!! Obviously it is just opinion, but I do love it!

Thank you everyone for the support!

Today is Day Six... down another half pound :D today's weight is 246.5

I'm feeling great! AND today I'm wearing a pair of pants comfortably that were a little tight two weeks ago - too tight to wear. I'm happy!

Day Seven

Today will be day SEVEN. Today's weight 244.5! It's working! I'm down 10.5 pounds in 7 days. I feel great and my clothes are fitting better.

Today is Day Eight

Goooooooooooood morning lovelies!!

This morning marks the end of my first full week!

Results of Week One: 11 POUNDS! WOO HOO! :woohoo:

I can certainly tell the difference in my waist too... that's where I always lose first --- AND DBF said last night... "Look at you gettin' skinny" LOL

Onward and downward ladies!!
Have a wonderful Friday!
